    amplifier?

I acquired an old sansui 5900z amplifier to use with some speakers I found in the attic. anyhow , it works, but what should i do for the radio, it only picks up one station. As in, should i just make something out of foil (that DOES work, doesnt it?)

i guess no one in these forums knows anything about this?

Umm, depends, is it analog or digital? What kind of oscillator is it using, and is it an issue with the oscillator, or with the circuity that's being used to tune it? There's a bunch of stuff that goes in to a radio, even a simple one, and it could be a few things in there.

yes, I would just buy a simple dipole and see how the reciever does with it.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. it has no FM antenna hooked up. a FM tuner without an antenna will get crap reception.

Forgive my superb ignorance on the situation! I dont see where I can connect an antenna on the back?

I found a picture on ebay

                    http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...15385879_o.jpg

the bottom two connectors are used for a 300 ohm(flat) connector. the two on the left side are used for a 75 ohm(coax) connector. the simple dipole I linked to would use the 300 ohm connectors.

BTW, I have one of those amplified antennae that you plug into the wall. I paid $30 at Radio Shack a few years ago. But I recently found out a simply piece of wire works just as good, if not better.

Well, no it doesn't. You might not need the antenna with power, but having an antenna that properly matches impedence and resistance makes the connection a lot better and less prone to interference from outside noise or caused by the improper "antenna".

OK, so I admit I don't understand the technical details. All I can tell you is that the simple little coated wire that came with my receiver brings in more FM channels than my amplified antenna.

Oh, well, that should have the correct impedence and resistance then. From your original post I assumed you were just connecting up a random wire to use as an antenna.
