IE 8 Beta 1 for Vista and 2008

IE 8 Beta is out. I'm going to download and install on my laptop. I'll status it after I run a couple days with it.

Are they trying to beat FF3? Cuz that aint gonna happen.

I would say I hope their not, but you know FF3 release had something to do with the IE8 beta release.
And we all know they won't even match FF unless they totally redesign the IE engine.
On a quick note the look and feel of IE8 is the same as 7. Some changes as you go into it, but I'm documenting those as I go.

Not ready for prime time.

Ok, I stopped eval on IE 8 Beta. It's no where near ready for installing or trying. Based on just a few web page test it's not worth any further testing until the next release.

Web Pages checked that did not display properly.
mapquest.com
maps.google.com

Web pages with any link to show maps from mapquest or maps.google did not display properly. The maps that were linked in went way outside their bordered area and displayed over the test or images around it.

It only crashed one time, but the handling of some web pages wasn't acceptable at all.

They did add a new option that was pretty kewl in the home page option. They added a check box to only display the first home page in the list when IE starts.

I am uninstalling the beta and going back to 7. I did the checks on my laptop using Vista.

Thanks Doug , i personally cant use IE anymore. The only web browser that i am using is Firefox.
