    Uh-Oh Spaghtti O

    I have a question.
My brother was playing WOW (i know.. scary) and all of a sudden the computer and the screen froze. He tried to cntrl-alt-del out and that didn't work. He then tried to alt-tab out and that didn't work.
He then proceeded to turning off the power strip (turning everything off) then turned it back on.

Once he turned it back on the computer didn't boot and just beeped continuous short beeps.
I looked this up on google and it said something about Boot Error codes.
The only thing I could find was that continuous Beeps had to do with the RAM possibly?
Can someone tell me what it is.. and what I should do?

Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.. or help me out.

    Thanks,
    Baller

PS: First time back.. in.. months probably.

You have to count the beeps and then go and search for your motherboard make and model and figure out what the beeps mean.

Try powering it off, unplugging the cable from the power supply in back, hold in the power button for a few seconds to bleed off any residual power in the capacitors and let it sit for about an hour. I've had a few "miraculous" recoveries by doing that, dunno if it was bad data from the restart or what. Although in this case is sounds more like trouble. Get the maker and model of the board, and the BIOS type if possible, then do a Google search or the manufacturers website, or come to all us geeks here for help

If you have the motherboard manual that will be a great help as to finding out what the beeps mean. Lock ups like that are normally graphics card or OS/driver related. RAM usually gives you BSOD's. Try clearing the CMOS to see if that helps.

Reseat RAM ... that the easiest thing to check, or test one stick at a time if there are two sticks in the PC to determine if one of them went bad.

To save time you could just give us the make and model of the motherboard.

Baller, try this on for size:

                  http://www.helpwithpcs.com/upgrading...memory_ram.htm

With pics, so no excuses !!! Its the easiest upgrade to do to your PC, and its why most of us first opened up the case back when we were younger and PCs were much more complicated.

Can't find anything on that Baller. Sounds more like a chipset model. It should state it on the motherboard itself.

So does the monitor just stay black or do any lights turn on?

                        What exactly will that do?

Reseating the RAM can clear some problems. When you hit the power button, does your PC recieve any power? Fans start etc? We still need the motherboard make/model.

The beepings are trying to tell you what is wrong. First you need to find the motherboard make and model. After that you can find the manual for that motherboard, and at the back it should tell you what the beeps are trying to tell you

If this isn't a custom built computer you could also tell us the make and model of the computer and we might be able to find the MoBo info that way.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
