...through radeon x1950xt, with avivo. I can watch VHS from the player, sounds and looks fine. But why neither vdub nor media player classic will record. heck, vdub wont view the videos at all. they VHS tapes are fine, i can watch through MPC...

Do you get a copyright violation? when I wanted to get rid of all VHS tapes in the house I bought this usb dongle. First I just gave away a bunch of tapes we didn't want. Then if I could buy the dvd for 5 bucks on amazon I did. I was then left with a bunch of odd tapes that were never released on DVD or are just plain unavailable. When I went to record them I got a copyright violation from the app I was using. What I did was get a device from Israel that strips out the macro vision DRM signal. Heres the device

Note to Forum Mods don't delete this post. This is not about pirating but, about Fair Use as allowed under US law. Basically I still have the VHS tapes in a box in the garage I've just moved the content to DVD Which is legal. I do mention satellite cause some folks TV's have an issue with the signal that has macro vision so people use this to get they're gear to work together.

no, its just home video, family movies. I just can't find a good piece of software to record with. Everything sucks, basically. That, or I'm doing something wrong, oblivious to it.
