This is a first as far as I can remember. Its like buying a Core 2 Quad Extreme chip, then having Intel say 'So sorry, we owe you $50 for buying that chip that just came out".

I blame me for this .. as the long-standing resident hardware geek, I missed making a thread on this, so you can throw your rotten fruit at me.



Truthfully, I have decided to go ATI on my next card, but these blasted Nvidia price cuts are so deep that I can nearly get a pair of GTX260's for the price of the 4870 1gb card that I am set on. That is something to mull over, even after hearing and reading enough on both cards.
With the newer 55nm 260's coming out (offering more stream procs as well) the 260 will be a sweet card, but Nvidia is doing what they need to do to make the card decision a difficult one.

That almost made me sad, until I realized they are probably the PNY brand cards, then reality set in. If it was for an eVGA or XFX card, then I'd REALLY be sad.

I have $400 to spend, but I doubt I am buying both cards at once. My PSU won't cut it, so I'll buy just one card at a time.
