    Will these all work together?

Finally decided on an X-mas rig. I just have to know if all these parts will work together and nicely. I'm not building myself, just ordering each piece for the PC shop guys to make, lol.

Chassis: Sunbeamtech Quarterback Gaming Chassis with MOD Window

PSU: 650 Watt -- Corsair CMPSU-650TX Power Supply SLI Ready

    Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 (4x 2.4GHz/8MB L2 Cache/1066FSB)

CPU Cooling: INTEL Certified Liquid CPU Cooling System kit

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 896MB w/DVI & TV Out Video

Motherboard: [SLI] Asus P5N-D Nvidia nForce 750i SLI Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, IEEE-1394, Dual PCI-E MB

    Memory: 4 GB [2 GB X2] DDR2-800 PC6400 Memory Module Corsair-Value

Hard Drive: High Performance Serial-ATA-II Hard Drive 500GB - 7,200 RPM w/16MB Cache

    CD/DVD Drive: 20x Dual Layer DVD?R/?RW Drive w/LightScribe Technology

Sound Card: High Definition 7.1 3D Surround Sound Onboard

Keyboard: Saitek Eclipse-II PK02U Gaming Keyboard

Mouse: Razer Copperhead High Precision Laser Gaming Mouse

It should be around $1,050, so I'm gonna owe my mum, lol...

    So how's that look?

    Edited to lower price
edit: Can you uninstall the OS of one computer then use it on a new one?

Edit again: updated the Graphics card, the processor, the case, took out the speakers, bumped up the RAM, and now I get a price of around $1300

I have the same Motherboard and Memory mate so I can't see any problem with the parts.

Apart from I would by a HD with 32 Cache

What OS are they putting on it? Even with Windows XP you might want to get another 2GB of RAM in that thing. Discrete sound card is always nice as well. You haven't posted what the video card in it is. The 650W PSU will PROBABLY run it all, but today's video cards are real power hogs. Hard drive space also seems a bit low, guess it all depends what you're doing though, and that's easy to add on to later.

Well I have 70gig Hard Drive right now, so I'm thinking 500gigs is amazing....... I have a freakin iPod with more space than my hard drive has, lol..

I updated and put in the video card in the top, and put in 4G of ram

Switch the 4x1gb RAM sticks for 2x2gb sticks. You have no upgrade path if you have all slots filled.

I'd pass on the 8800GT and get the 4850 for about the same price. If you really want to leave an upgrade option, pass on both the 8800GT and 4850 and get a GTX260 for $210. You can the add a second 260 in a year and get a noticeable FPS bump.

The speakers ... 600 watt .... errmm, no. That's small potatoes tho, so I'm just being nitpicky because I know that 600w rating it listed peak and NOT nominal, so its 600w for about a tenth of a second when you turn them on.

PS - going to a second 260 would call for a better PSU as well, so the 650w Corsair would need to be upped to a 750w unit which would power SLI'd 260s.

Mmm, if it's a retail version you *might* be able to get away with it, if you tell them that you're upgrading the old computer and reinstalling. If it's from a retailer or OEM, you're pretty much SOL.

As far as the video card goes, it's a decent card, but there's newer and better cards out that you might be able to get for around the same price. They finally blocked Newegg out here at work (covering a weekend shift) so I'd have to look when I get home if no one else chimes in.

Ditch the graphics card. The GTX260 is bad. Ditch the motherboard for a better Intel chipset. You'll lose SLI but i doubt you will ever use it.

High performance HDD? What the hell is that? Intel certified liquid cooling? Hmmmm.

anything that isn't asus with an nvidia chipset.... I'd suggest Abit if you aren't going to get a sound card, otherwise i'm using a gigabyte board and haven't had any troubles out of it.

Abit ?? The company that's going outta business ... again ??

C'mon Juneau ... trust your instincts when they tell you you shouldn't.

Video card choice comes down to how much you want to invest in the card. I can tell you that it is the first component in most builds that needs replaced or updated, so don't expect any card to last much more than a year if you really want to game at maximum graphics settings.

Price range listings - Best card for:

                        $50 - eVGA 9600 GSO ($100-$50 MIR) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...384-P3-N966-TR

You will not, I repeat .. will not top this card for the price (after rebate, natch).

                        $100 - Leadtek 9600GT Extreme 512mb
                        http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16814122049R

                        $150 - Visiontek Radeon 4850 512mb
                        http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814129112

*Note: Price is at $164, but Best Buy will have it for $149 as of tomorrow.

                        $200 - MSI 9800GTX+ 512mb
                        http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127374

                        $225+ - PNY GTX260 896mb (192sp)
                        http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814133229

Ignore Juneau and his Nvidia hate .. he has tried to sway me from reading up on the comparisons, but the GTX260 hangs right with the 4870, so given that this one is $30 cheaper than the cheapest 4870, it comes down to simple economics.

Really? Going bust? Hadn't heard that. Pity. One of the best Intel mobo makes out there.

All the tests i've seen of the GTX260 shows that the 4850 is similar in most tests. Kills it at higher res and more AA. The GTX260+ bring the range back up to the 4870.

Guess you must be getting better deals over there or something. The GTX260 is ?70+ more than the 4850.

I don't have SLI hate i just think the board and tech are way overrated and over priced. XFire scales way better than SLI and is cheaper. But i'm not a fan of XFire either so.....

Is Nvidia's offerings really worth the extra money for a tiny bit of extra speed. I for one don't think so.

                            Some reading for ya, Juneau:

                            http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/articl...50aHVzaWFzdA==

We kicked this evaluation off by presenting some questions for which we were seeking answers.

Is the new GTX 260 any faster than the original GTX 260? - For the most part, yes. It was virtually identical to the original GTX 260 in Age of Conan, but in every other game we tested here, the new GeForce GTX 260 performed measurably better than the original GeForce GTX 260 clock-for-clock. The thing is though, while it was measurably faster, it really did not allow us to improve the gameplay experience over the original GeForce GTX 260 in any way.
Does the new BFGTech GeForce GTX 260 OCX MAXCORE provide any real-world gameplay experience differences over a Radeon HD 4870? - Yes, just as the original 260 did. In every game we tested it on, both the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 at stock-speeds and the BFGTech GeForce GTX 260 OCX MAXCORE outperformed AMD's ATI Radeon HD 4870. The ATI Radeon HD 4870 is out-classed by the BFGTech GeForce GTX 260 OCX MAXCORE. It is as simple as that.
The above quote is the higher end BFG card, but the original 260 still held its own against the 4870.

PS - bad news on Abit:

Wow that's really sad. I hunted and hunted on googles but found nothing. Seems like this isn't a well known story.

No more uber overclocking, well layed out, great cooling, great priced motherboards.

                              Abit had it all.

Iirc HardOCP is pro Nvidia and i think they recieve a form of funding. I was reading something about this the other day. If i find it i'll post it up.

No offence but this made my LOL.

The ATI Radeon HD 4870 is out-classed by the BFGTech GeForce GTX 260 OCX MAXCORE. It is as simple as that.
Really? A 4870 that is just behind a GTX280 in most tests is 'out-classed' by the GTX260+ OCX? Bit stupid of Nvidia making the GTX260+ be as fast as their flagship card then.

I wonder why they didn't test the 4870 overclocked to make it somewhat fair?

edit: Just read the COD4 test section. LOL! So they somehow couldn't make the Ati card, which deals with AA better run on 4xAA? Yet provide no proof of this? Then say the Nvidia card

gave us a tangibly superior gameplay experience for CoD4
They really are stooping quite low now. Why show your main test as 2560x1600? Was this just to show off in their graphs that the Nvidia is better, even though the Ati card still got a higher FPS?

                              HardOCP is really going downhill.
