    Windows Vista

I'm doing a fresh install on a box for a friend and
I keep getting a BSOD on the primary boot following installing Vista.

Any ideas on what I can do to slow this down so I can read the error?

So you aren't able to enter safe mode or boot to a point where you can look at the event logs?

      affirmative-

AND the mem dump is so fast I cant even see the error message it gives.

I tried to freshen the install twice and I have crashed every time.

hmm... I suppose you could use a live cd to find the dump file, I don't know where it would be but I'm sure you could find it. Could there be a hardware issue? Was there any weird problems before installing Vista?

Im going to try to install without the partition and see if that works this time around.

I'[m just used to it being required to create a partition in order to instll Windows.

              Looks like Vista doesnt care.

Also- I ran start over and over and suddenly its configuring again.

Kinda weird. BSOD didnt take after the 7th attempt

freakin weird- I had to use the Safemode with Networking- then it finally completed the install AFTER it said that it failed to install in Safe Mode

who said this crap is safer, better, easier?

ACTUALLY my first XP install went exactly this way until I pulled the vid card out.
My wife just reminded me of how I got so mad that I refused to use the darn thing for a week after I got it right- that was like May 2001 I think.....

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
