Cannot get Mouse Buttons 4 and 5 to work in COD4

    Hiya all-

Im running Windows Vista Ultimate. Yes I know that it is a pain in the neck, but the experience I am having now is no different than Win XP Pro when it came out.

I've had all the same BSODs, etc.

New one here is that all the mouse buttons work outside of my games, but inside my games I only get standard mouse (3 buttons).

I have the latest rvisions to the drivers.
    I have the suite installed.

The mouse is a Rocketfish 2.4 Laser.

    any ideas?

Try turning off your mouse ware.
I have a logitech and have to exit my set point for my buttons to work. Except for 1, 2 and wheel. Also I use mouse 4 for voip and it will not work in game with set point active.
    Apache

Odd, always wondered why I couldn't map my logitech's extra buttons. I'll have to try it with setpoint off, I always figured they wouldn't work right with it off.

Yeah, if there are special mouse additional software that shows up on your task tray, close it before entering the game and they should work. I've had the same problem with some logitech devices.

Set point is logitech's proprietary software/driver set to run all the features on their mouses. Not sure if your mouse has the same type of thing or not Hammy. If it does however, apparently the key is to turn it off, as mentioned above. I'd guess that you need to disable the suite that you mentioned in your original post to gain access to them in games.

I have the same thing in Crysis Wars. I can't use any buttons on my Logitech MX700 apart from 1&2. No setpoint loaded and i don't have any problems in other games.

Looks like i may have to try out LogiGamer again. 3rd party software that links keyboard buttons to the mouse via profiles. When that mouse button is then being pressed your computer interprets that the keyboard is being used. Shouldn't be as hard as this though.

Hmmm I have a Logitech MX518, and I don't have any problems with using the mouse buttons when setpoint is running. I actually use it to remap the + and - buttons to do different stuff. I am running Vista x64.

                      The Answer:

Windows Vista can handle mutliple button mouse configurations now.
Unless the suite is made specifically for Vista, it is not reccomended that you use the softwear that came with your mouse.

Makes sense to me- I mean I can adjust the DPI on the laser, I can use all the mouse features, and the drivers arent even installed from the manufacturer.

I, too, have this mouse, but I didn't install the "stuff" that came with it.
I just plugged it in and everything worked.
