The 9800 cards are similar to the 8800GTX. the 8800GTS 512mb is more than enough really unless you start to go above 1680x1050.

Why do you need a new card exactly?

If you have an 8800 card stick with it as for the 9800 card they are just the same as the 8800 cards as for the 200 cards they are not worth the money.

I bought my Son a 9800gt card 2 weeks ago and i have to say the 8800 gt card out runs the 9800 cards.

        thanks for the response.

i don't NEED new card. i'm actually getting a brand new one from evga since my original 8800gt died so when i get mine in, in the next couple days i'm gonna check out the performance.

i was just getting that "itch" where i wanted something new and sexy in the computer world lol. i think i'm gonna just go ahead and stick with my 8800 for right now.

        appreciate it

After I read this thread I went and researched all kinds of video cards and I gotta say, most of the things I read on Tom's Hardware and on reviews from Amazon to Newegg make me think twice before buying any of the 9 series cards. Only thing I might want to get is a 9800GX2 and that's cuz they're cool.. even thou they run HOT HOT HOT according to some reviews. Stick with your 8800GT, that is what I have... if you don't then that means I'll have to buy a new one too to out "gfx card" you

Same advice as above. No compelling reason to upgrade, then don't upgrade just yet.
Best bang for the buck would be a 4850 card at this point. The refreshes from ATI and Nvidia come out around the end of this month, so I'm waiting to see what happens with the 55nm GT200 lineup with that change, and what ATI's answer will be (4850x2 ?)

That's what i've heard WT. The 4850x2 that will be as fast as the GTX280 and cheaper.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
