    New Motherboard

I am thinking about buying a new motherboard and processor. Any suggestions on the motherboard. It will be for a Core2 Quad Core. I was thinking about a 790 board but am open to suggestions.

Thinking of going SLI? You probably know my thoughts on this and Nvidia mobos.

This board is getting some wicked reviews. Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45.

My 750i has been as stable as a rock, but I do agree with Juneau that Nvidia boards can be touchy in regards to the video corruption bug.
Warhead and I both bought the board, and he had plenty of issues that made his time with the board less than fruitful, but I have not had anything to report.
Note that you are looking at the 790 board, which differs in its use of DDR3 compared to the 750 and 780 board that use cheaper DDR2. DDR3 is somewhat cheaper ($200 for a 2gb kit) but far from cheap enough for what it offers compared to DDR2, which is my main rub against it at this point.

DDR3 will not be a worthwhile upgrade until Summer of next year, for Intel's next line of chips.

My 780i runs like a charm and I haven't noticed this video bug that is out there but I don't use any video applications so I may have it.

Here's a link for the board i suggested. Probably should of added it in my first post.

            link removed

Just noticed how ridiculous our prices are getting . The P5Q Pro costs ?99 here. Figuring on the current exchange that when converted it's close to $150.

I'm too paranoid to buy an open box. I know it could have been returned for any reason but I just don't like the idea of someone else handling it.

I have the P5Q PRO board in my current set up with an E8400 Core 2 Duo and 2 Diamond Radeon 4870 runs great no issues at all, got it for $138.00 and free shipping from NCIX in Canada works for me.

That is one of the best reasons to buy new rather than used... that and if it was shipped back you could have internal damage and never know until it arrives. and then they would blame YOU!!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhh! So that's why it's so cheap! I hadn't noticed it was open box.

                    Will find a better link.

                    edit: Here we go.

That seems a bit more on par with your prices.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
