A followup to "Odd colors in BF2"

After changing my OS to Vistax64 I thought I would be rid of the annoying flashy colors in BF2 that I was getting in XP Pro x86

Well, instead of the splash of purple and green which froze my screen I now get textures turning into a solid color, for example, all of the building textures within the game would be red, and all the street textures would be blue - and they flash in the game, like I can still play it, but it flashes. I checked my temps are they are not above 55C.

The remedy is to alt+tab back into windows (just a second or two) and the flashy textures go away for another 20-30min. Then they come back, and then I go back to the desktop, and then back into the game, and another 20-30min and the cycle goes on.

WTF is with my video card? Darn you MSI! I'm never getting MSI again. Anyone know of what the issue is? Using latest drivers with nHancer....argh

    Are you overclocking your card?

hah, well not me per se,

but the MSI card came factory overclocked... it was a good price at the time, and I didn't have any problems until a few months after purchase.

Do you have a good link?

I haven't had much success trying to find an email, or at least one that gets through to them

alrighty, somehow I found their forums while searching for the issue

I finally read/found that a lot of other users are having the same problems. Seems for some if they underclocked the card back to nvidia default specs it either helped or got rid of the problems. I want a fricken refund if I have to underclock a card which I purchased at a factory overclock.... ARGH

              Never again going with MSI...

It's the NX8800GT OC 512mb (the dual slotted one)
                  Newegg.com - MSI NX8800GT 512M OC GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

So the guy responds on the forums where I posted (one of the mods, so it must be an official MSI tech dude, or a veteran MSI tech guy) and I say I already tried "xyz" but he suggests run it on another computer...

                  LOL

I only have one PC how the heck am I supposed to do that? Why don't they just make products that work right off the bat?

i suggest running off of your MOBO integrated card and running a diagnostic on the other one

mine mobo doesn't have an integrated gpu, or at least I doubt it does. And if it did it wouldnt run BF2....

lol not BF2, i meant ur computer
and any mobo should have an integrated GPU, it may be disabled in the BIOS but try checking device manager.

Alright, what does "run a diagnostic mean?" I'm pretty sure the card is hosed because it did the same thing when I was running on my copy of XP Pro last time I formatted....
