Fallout 3 video crash?

K, i've looked around the web, and the only solution I can find to fixing the constant video crashes of Fallout 3 has something to do with "ffdshow".... which I don't have. Seems to be a vista related thing... and i'm on xp....

So far i've tested all of my ram (it's good), HD is defraged, all temps in the computer are good. I just can't figure it out. Only things I haven't tried are reducing video settings just for S&G, and taking my paging file down to 0%. Any other ideas?

Video drivers current? Updating those fixed my BF2 lock ups.

I have been playing it on my Vista 64 laptop without any issues.

yep, video drivers are current....

I've been able to reduce the number of crashes by completely removing my paging file, and by setting the game to run on just one core of my CPU. But it's still crashing every once in awhile.... This is still very annoying.... Any ideas at all on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
