    Fastest graphics card ever??

NVIDIA's Quadro FX 5800 with 4GB graphics memory is 'the most powerful graphics card in history' - Engadget

    Sounds like overkill to me

I had an FX 5900 ... does that mean (using Nvidia's wonderful naming conventions) that my card was faster ?

It's a Quadro card, not a Geforce. I'm not sure if they ever changed the naming scheme there or not.

              heh

Probably need to wear a welder's mask to get close to a computer with that thing in it! Whatever! Maybe I'll trade my car in for one!

Sooo, do you need Vista 64 to have the OS see all 4gb, or does it hold some in reserve for memory resources ?

From my understanding 4gb of ram is for the the GPU to compute enormous amount of data that it proccess without overloading the CPU processor for those business workstations... But it seems like its not a gaming card

Wait, if you can't blast Crysis at 1900x1200 with all maxxed, what's the point? So this better not only run my computer, but run my house and car at full rez

lol Weird that u say that...

The Quadro FX 5800 Maximum Power Consumption is 189W

My Geforce GTX 280 Maximum Graphics Card Power is 236W

Well I came to a conclusion that this card is only mean't for people in the medical field, energy companies, CAD users, 3d graphics designers and such for their needs in there field. Maybe they use a Quadro FX 5800 card for Mythbusters CPU vs GPU show

Kinda like those old blue silicon graphics PC workstations... Only thing is you don't need a proprietary PC... Heck have you seen the latest Arcade boards from Sega, and others arcade machine manufacters?

There are now using a PC board either using a Intel or AMD chipset and a Nvidia card

I don't know what type of graphic card the one in the picture has but the latest board is using a NVIDIA GeForce 8800

                            Ok, I got carried away...sorry

Exactly. The quadro cards were never meant for gaming. They're optimised for CAD and 3d rendering etc.

The drivers they also use are probably the best drivers Nvidia has ever released. I was running some modified quadro drivers on my old 7800GT once and damn the IQ was great compared to the standard GeForce releases. Performance wasn't too shabby either.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
