I'm always a bit hesitant with unknown name brand TVs like that.
Don't know about the longevity of their electronics and other gizmos in the TV
[this is where my funky sig would go. But I don't have one.
So all you get is this crappy text]

720 is a difficult resolution as it is unsupported by many forms of media. I find 480i or 1080i/p seems to be the standard.

Only caution point I can say at this point. All TVs and Monitors are made by 1 of 4 manufacturing plants in the world.

Big disappointment, I know, but it's true. The foundry manufactures the monitors to the specs provided, but overall, they are all of the same quality brand and etc. these days.

You guys know that TV broadcasts are in 720p, not 1080p, right? The high def channels that you get are in 720p. The only thing you're going to see in 1080p is games (depending on system), Bluray movies, etc. If you want a 1080p TV, as I posted in another thread, I've heard that Circuit City is going to have some great sales on Samsung 1080p TVs, some new 500 series with a lower contrast ratio than the other Samsungs, but still a great deal and a 1080p TV. Keep in mind these are Black Friday sales though, probably just that day, maybe over the weekend, and limited to what they have in stock and no online purchases.

Actually, most of my high def channels are 1080i.

It's not worth buying 40+ inches without 1080p, regardless of the price. Don't do it Jeffro!

Uh no- that is untrue. Comcast is 1080i or 1080p where we live.

That is possibly the first time i've heard of TV broadcasts being in 1080p. Quite a shocker to be honest. HD broadcasts over here are either 1080i or 720p.

I just picked up a new TV a week ago. Sony KDL40V4000 1080/24p. Very nice set indeed. Especially as all stores dropped the price by ?200 for a week.

edit: Just noticed newegg don't seel Sony TV's. How weird is that.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
