    DVD playback software.

After years of trying to talk my father into doing his ownPpC upgrades he finally took the plunge. He needed a new DVD player for his older Dell desktop. He was surprised to see that OEM drive come in nothing but bubble wrap but after guiding him thought the online manuals he was up and running. The only problem is that this drive doesn't work with WMP. So he is looking for some playback software that will work with this drive. Is there some free software out there that will work with this thing? Also, is in normal that a DVD player wont work with windows?

I use VLC for the majority of my media needs, no codecs or anything needed, and it works great!

    Zeh Link!

VLC FTW!! Having to pay for Mpeg2 playback is a disgrace imo.

Thanks for the linkage. Some day I will read up on all this stuff so I can build a HTPC.
