Pick apart this build for a friend

A co-worker's son is looking at buying this 'gaming' rig to replace his old PC:

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...6&srkey=crysis

I'm trying to top it with another pre-built, as he isn't interested in building one which is what we did for the last rig he put together. I don't think the 9800GT is a particularly good card compared to an ATI 4850, and using an mATX board for a full sized case always looks dorky, but toss out some comments or suggestions and we'll go from there. Price is $699 on the above rig, and he'd like to stay around that figure if at all possible.

I think its rather shoddy that they advertise it as a Crysis (or even Crysis:Warhead) capable rig. Yeaaa, it may load it, but it isn't RUNNING it like you'd hope it would.

Just tell him that it'll probably last about 12months then it'll crawl like a snail and he'll have to buy new parts.

edit: LMAO !! 250GB HDD? Are you kidding me?

Juneau, keep in mind this is TigerDirect, where they basically are piecing this together from leftover parts on the shelf. I do not like their usual builds for this reason. Be that as it may, I can't seem to exceed the specs from any other vendors.

Have you told him it's made from leftovers?

Yea, but he just turned 21 (its a B-day gift for him from his parents, whom I work with) so he has other things on his mind compared to just refreshing the PC.

I wash my hands of it at this point, as he didn't seem to mind the limitations on this PC that were put forth, so when that power supply goes up in smoke, I can say 'Well, I did recommend against that one, yanno' ?

Let's just hope it does take the rest of the components with it.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
