Apple adds hardware DRM :(

I'm not 100% sure about this whole HDCP thing, but isn't the fact that Apple added support to their hardware good?
From what I understand, it is the source file that has the DRM built in. For example, the movie file that you download through iTunes has HDCP DRM in it. In order to play such files back, you need a display that is compatible with that type of protection. So if Apple didn't add HDCP compatibility to their laptops, you wouldn't be able to play back HDCP-protected content on your Mac regardless of where the file you're trying to play is from.
I went through this issue a while back. I was trying to hook my PS3 up to my monitor with an HDMI to DVI adapter, but the monitor didn't support HDCP, so the PS3 refused to output to it. If my monitor had been built with HDCP support built in (like the new Macbooks), I'd be able to use my monitor as a TV screen.
Of course, the glitch that caused iTunes files to not play back is a bad thing. But that can be fixed through software updates.
EDIT: Here's another article on the same issue: Apple iTunes content throwing HDCP flags on new MacBook / MacBook Pro - Engadget
It sounds like the real problem is that the iTunes files are HDCP-protected, and HDCP only works with digital connections (i.e. it isn't an issue if you use an analog output), but the new Macbooks don't have any analog outputs, so you NEED an HDCP-compliant monitor if you're going to watch protected content on an external display.
That is, the problem isn't that they added HDCP to their hardware. It's that they didn't add analog outputs.

HDCP isn't a problem using Windows thanks to AnydvdHD.
