Pocket Radio Player... Grisu's hobby coding...

    Hey there!

I'm currently working on a project named "Pocket Radio Player" (PRP).
It's a tiny internet radio player. The idea was to create an app which plays your favourite music stations "out of the box" without wasting too much resources.

    Screenshots:

    Download:
    http://www.charliesgames.com/prp.zip ( ~450 kb, #231108 )

PRP is still in alpha stage and nothing is final. Use at own risk!

Suggestions, bug reports, etc. are always welcome.

    Grisu

i'll give it a shot and see if I can get it to error out! lol. Seriously though. This looks to be a nice little app...

Um... question though.... Can you explain how to add radio stations in a simple manner for those of us who don't know much about it?

Look inside the docs folder: "prp_mystations.txt"
      Should explain most stuff.

Each station is stored in a data file inside the "stations" folder.
Just delete the stations you don't like and add new ones there. Restart of the app needed.
One can create a station file within minutes. At least for those taken from Shoutcast.com.

Later on, there will be a tool for creating the data files.
Currently, I'm working on sinking the app to the system tray.

If you need help adding a certain station, just yell.
The ones included are for testing purposes mostly...

P.S.: You can also run PRP from an USB Stick. No installation / registry entries and bloated frameworks required.

The only thing I can find hard to do is getting a radio station's streaming IP address and port; since they use players and I have no clue how to get it. However making a station file is very easy, to me anyways.

That's the exact same problem i'm having...

Perhaps a neat feature would be the ability to simply pop in the address of the station and let the program do the rest?

I'm sorry, but such an "auto-get-ip from website" feature is next to impossible.

Don't blame me. With Shoutcast stations its quite easy to get the ips.

                      One way is:
                      1. open the station wanted with winamp
                      2. save the playlist somewhere
                      3. open the playlists source code via a text editor (e.g. MS notepad) or something else.
                      4. copy out the ip address

                      Hope that helps...

                      @BenKenobi:
                      Blitzmax (with MaxGUIEX) -> http://www.blitzmax.com/
Also PRP uses the Fmod libary until I find a better solution -> FMOD music sound effects system

Oh got it, lol. I was changing it to zip instead of a txt file.

Glad I could be of service.

You can E-Mail me the station files if you have made some.
I will include them in the zip or put them up on a website.

As usual I'm quite busy with my job. So I mostly work on PRP on weekends.
So this might take a while....

In case some of you still use this. A newer version is up.

With this version you can sink prp into the system tray.

                            P.S. Sadly I can edit post #1....

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
