OK, so I'm not new, per se, but it has been a long time since I've been around these parts. Just wanted to say hello again and promise you you'll be seeing me in the server.
I became a CLR several years ago when we were playing UT2004. I was one of the Onslaught players, and while I never could lay claim to being one of the better players, I usually held my own and tried, if nothing else, not to hurt my team.
The thing I love about Cain's Lair the most is the friendliness and the willingness to allow noobs to be noobs unless that venture into asshattery. Most servers just pale in comparison and although I've played in a ton of servers, this is the only one that ever felt like home.
I became incredibly excited when UT3 came out before Christmas, and I was crushed to see it fail so massively. I was really hoping to pick up where we left off, but that wasn't to be apparently. I decided last fall that it was time to replace my old machine, so I recently built my own and I absolutely love it. I feel so much more connected to it knowing that I chose the parts and put it all together with my own two hands.
As for me, I'm 43 years old, married with no kids (we're trying), yada yada. My only claim to fame around these parts is I live only about 50 miles from Cain. I don't know why, but for some reason that makes me feel special, even though Cain hasn't invited me to see his home theater yet.
I can be longwinded, so I'll end this here by simply saying I love the Lair and (most of) you folks.
Cain, thanks for giving us a place to play. I just sent you a small donation the other day and promise that more will come.
See y'all at the front.
