Just came across this. Not sure if any of it's new or not.

Battlefield 3 Specs:

Release date: Autumn 2011 (solid date TBA)

Beta: July 2011

Platforms: Battlefield 3 will be available for PC, xBox 360 & Playstation 3. No plans for the Nintendo Wii.

Operating systems: Windows 7 / Vista only. WinXP, Mac OS & Linux are NOT supported.

Single player mode included on all systems.

Minimum/Recommended Hardware

Mulitplayer support:

Playstation 3 ? 26 players.

Xbox 360 ? 26 players.

PC Version ? 64 players.

Wii Version ? 0 players. (see: Battlefield 3 for Wii)
Battlefield 3 Maps (Mostly urban. Much isn?t known yet, but this is what we got so far)

Battlefield 3 Gameplay:

16 types of jets and 8 helicopters.

Prone position will be included.

New feature: drag fallen teammates to saftey. (I particularly can?t wait for this one. Just watch pesky teammates dump people off the ship or a tall building, lol?s anyone?)

Battlefield 3 Extras:

Battlefield 3 Limited edition copy will be announced at GDC 2011 which will include the popular Battlefield 2 map, Strike at Karkand.

Battlefield 3 is the true successor to Battlefield 2. Beyond our signature multiplayer, we have also included a full single-player campaign and a co-op campaign – all straight out of the box. Tanks in BF games are nothing like any other game. First of all they have to be constantly on guard from all the attack helo's and jet planes flying around and not camping areas like they've done in every other game since BF.

Something makes me think you've never played BF before. Am i right? BF maps were HUGE!

I always hated that. Tanks get killed from a single attack helo tv missle so no need for underhanded tactics.

P.S. Why do they think the return of prone is a good thing? It's like everyone has forgotten about dolphin diving in BF2.

VOIP - I assume it will be available, but if it's poorly implemented (like BFBC2), they should omit it. The good news is that they tried to patch BFBC2 VOIP and couldn't, so hopefully they recognized it as an avoidable design failure.

Prone vs. dolphin diving - I read sometime / somewhere that designers intended to solve dolphin diving by implementing a setup delay when changing in & out of prone (before weapons could be fired). TBD whether that will be a good solution.

They fixed that though, and hopefully it'll be 'fixed' in BF3.
