    In-game VOIP?

Yeah go easy on me, I just figured out there was a PC beta for free two days ago...

So, is there going to be VOIP in-game just like BF2?

I found the beta entertaining, but the lack of squad play sucked, and even on Caspian there was a lot of campers and not much CTF/squad team work.

I think voice will really help out with the teamwork.

We're crossing our fingers, and we know the squad play will be improved (somehow) from what it was for the beta.

Honestly? In game VOIP? I prefer TS3 at this point. I'd like to see maybe the control CAIN had with TS3 in BFBC2 implemented for BF3, but broke down even further if possible. (re: 10+ people in one channel, oi vey) Breaking it down like was happening in BFBC2 was very effective.

If it doesn't, life will be hell. I really hate not being able to select who I am in a squad with. So many times I was stuck with squads that would only have snipers in them, or tools camping out somewhere not touching the objectives. I prefer working as a squad/team in these games... Even more so with this many people, I hate being caught with only being one against three or better people.

But how would TS work? Wouldn't enemy players be in the same channel? OR is it via an honor system lol?

In BFBC2, CAIN had a slick plugin that would split the channels up once more than five people were on - that way, you could BS if it was just you and a couple of others, and then go more tactical once more people came on. Made the smaller games more manageable and fun when you could cut up with people.

TS will never be as good as VOIP was in BF2. When you joined a squad you could talk to everyone in your squad automatically. The commander could also talk to each SL and give them orders. It was a great system and worked flawlessly.

I never played BF2, but I hope they fix VOIP for BF3. It was so borked in BC2 that either people didn't use it or it worked for very few.

TS is nice, but integration is better. If nothing else, so people in your squad have to listen to you.

Yep, short of in-game VOIP our plugin is amazing....

I guess what I'm saying is how do we ensure that one guy on the enemy team isn't listening in on the friendly team's channel?

In BF2 the VOIP worked perfectly for me... only the squad members could hear you...

It was server controlled. Typically names were similar to what was in game, and I understand that is how it was handled. It would FORCE you to the proper channels without your will in where you were going.

Mind you, this was set up for specific channels. Other channels were not effected.

+1 and I will add that public players are far less likely to join a TS server so at any given time you have many people not participating in VOIP thus reducing the teamwork potential of the game. If it doesn't change there is no way for squads to work together, with the lack of a commander or a way for squad leaders to communicate with each other you will have roaming squads. Sure you can use team chat but a bunch of people on the same channel gets a little crazy. I will be really disappointed if EA drops the ball on this, not surprised, disappointed.

yup. I have been saying this the whole time. It is mind boggling how 6 years ago they had it perfect, yet now it is impossible to implement. You would think things would improve.

Since there's no more commander it'd be nice if you could talk to everyone in your squad, but then the squad leaders had their own channel to communicate with each other.
