Some of the 570/580 series cards are not being shipped with a default fan profile that works as expected. I read up on a few cards from certain vendors that were not ramping up the fan speeds as the card heated up.
Its quite rare in fact, but I wouldn't be surprised if a driver update may have something to do with the problem. Also, the 570 cards seem to have more than their fair share of problems with the VRMs overheating. Nothing you can do after they go bad other than RMA the card.Oh if a man tried to take his time on Earth and prove before he died what one man's life could be worth, well I wonder what would happen to this world ? - Harry Chapin

Well, my underclocking solution is still working. In fact, I forgot to underclock this morning for a quick game. Locked up right away. After I changed my settings, no issues whatsoever.--Bones--

Well, I'll play with it this weekend and see if I can find something stable. Maybe a bit more carefully applied voltage. And this is assuming it's the card and not something in the game or drivers. I'll try taking off my OC of the CPU to see if that makes any difference.
But, I am VERY happy I can play. I haven't measured my FPS, but it looks gorgeous and smooth.--Bones--

70C is nothing!
Only generation i ever remember that being a major problem with was the 8800 series.

My 8800gt was factory OC'ed, no issues, my new 560 is factory OC'ed, no issues last night.
Have those of you having problems ever gone beyond the manufacturer overclock and maybe have damaged silicon now? Always possible prior additional clocking could have caused problems that didn't show till the cards really get worked by the new game.

I will report I've been getting some odd behavior with my evga 570 factory OCed... using the recommended latest whql drivers too.
Once in a while the screen goes black and I can see my mouse cursor in certain areas near the middle of the screen. It's almost as if a popup window in the browser came up and it wants to be "in front" of BF3...
