    Constant Crashing

I have tried everything but the game crashes for me constantly, I cannot play mnore than 30 mins, and have never exited the game, it always crashes...

I have tried all the "fixes" people have recommended with no joy.

OK, I tried that "Repair Installation"

DO NOT TRY THAT!! I ended up having to completely re-install and now I cannot play at all...

Please do not post complaints we are looking for solutions, thank the people who have been looking for solutions if they work for you. If you know of one not posted post I and I will add it to the list.

everyone who is having issues go to Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application and see what module is faulty.

For example, MSVCR100.dll is messed up for me which signals something is wrong with C++. I haven't found a solution (have tried everything on this list pretty much), but if someone has fixed theirs somehow who had the same error, please post here! (thank you clragon)

      Things to check first:
      1) Update your video drivers – Ati: AMD Support Drivers
      [support.amd.com] Nividia: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us [nvidia.com]
      2) Update direct x - How to Download and Install DirectX
      [support.microsoft.com]
      3) Update .net framework - Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Web Installer) [microsoft.com]
      4) Make sure your other drivers are up to date – Sorry can’t really supply links for this as everyone’s set up is different
      5) Update battlefield 3 – in origin right click on the battlefield 3 image, choose “check for update”

      Game wont launch:

      Remove trademark: Credit - xD3S1x
      1) Goto the folder where Origin installed BF3 (C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefield 3\ Battlefield 3™) (thats where mine was installed)
      2) Rename the Battlefield 3™ folder to Battlefield 3 - (removing ™)
      3) Start regedit , browse to the following key :
      HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WoW6432Node\EA Games
      Change the GDFBinary & InstallDir paths to C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefield 3\ Battlefield 3 - again removing ™

      Set administrative: Credit - raze4
      1) Go to C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 or C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3
      2) Right click on bf3.exe> properties> compatibility> check “run this program as administrator”
      3) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin or C:\Program Files \Origin
      4) Right click on origin.exe> properties> compatibility> check “run this program as administrator”

      Partial reinstall: Credit - o--Vantage--o
      1) Go to Battlefield 3 folder and delete everything except the data folder and _installer.
      2) In Origin right click on Battlefield 3 and choose repair install. When I did this the repair install scanned my game and took about 2 min to download stuff. Then after it was done it launched an update to BF3 that took 7 min to download.

      1) Try using another browser such as Firefox, chrome or internet explorer. You will need to reinstall the game manager in your new browser

      1) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games or C:\Program Files\Origin Games
      2) Change the battlefield 3 folder name or if you are running low on room delete it entirely
      3) Restart origin and reinstall your game (you might want to keep installer files just in case, do this by clicking the gear in origin>settings>check the box that says “keep game installers after games have been installed”)

      Game launches but crashes(general fix):

Set to run on one core: credit – EA Tech support

      1) First of you will need to download the latest punkbuster file here:
      http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=dl-bf3.php [evenbalance.com]

      2) Look under PunkBuster (Battlefield 3) Player Client Files and download the Filename: “wc002279.htm” to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\pb\htm Overwrite the existing file even if it's the same size.

Start non punkbuster game: Credit - Sebby360
      1) turn punkbuster off under your search, and join a non pb req server

Join friend issue: Credit - zmoose94
      1) Open ports on your firewall. See this news post Battlelog / Sign in [battlelog.battlefield.com]
      2) Disable Avast! anti-virus. (We all use Avast so not sure about other anti-virus programs)
      3) If you use Firefox addons like download manager either disable it or use Chrome (IE 9 also worked for us)

      In game fix:

      Shuttering fix: Credit - dem0critus
      1) Disable HPET and Hyperthreading in BIOS (HT Link Tristate and Cluster Multi-threading for AMD - HAVEN'T TESTED ON AMD, so I don't know if it will work the same)
2)Disable Threaded Optimization in NVidia settings
roll back drivers to 285.38 beta drivers (For nvidia users obviously, if you're on ATI after trying everything else, try removing cap3.)

      Failing modules fixes:

      atidxx32.dll -- Update your video drivers – Ati: http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx [support.amd.com]

Not good news at all. Wonder what the repair function is doing that messes things up so badly? Especially if it causes problems even after a full reinstall.

Beats me, but I wish I had never tried that. Before the "repair" I could play 15-20 mins, now I cannot play at all.

Sorry Cain. Is the install on a separate partition? Maybe just format that partition?

This is something I've seen recommended:
"Try setting the Origin.exe, BF3.exe and your web browser .exe to "Run As Administrator"."

Why change this now if it was running before? The repair installation process may have caused permissions to change.
Also, is it possible the repair process failed?

Cain if you're getting the black screen (which is what was happening to me), try to close out Origin then restart it. I know it seems stupid but it works.

Also, uncheck the option in browser to automatically start the game. Wait until the whole thing loads and then press the big yellow button join game.

This the only game that does it?

                            Try disabling any/all antivirus.

Install temperature monitoring software to see if temps get high before a crash. I use Real Temp for CPU, MSI Afterburner for GPU.

If you have all 4 RAM slots full on your motherboard try taking out 1 or 2 then test.

Try removing/disabling your sound card and see if it works then, just to help narrow it down.

Install windows on a blank hardrive, don't install anything but the latest drivers and bf3 to verify whether it's a hardware or software issue. If it still doesn't work it's probably hardware.

I was getting a lot of freezes and crashes last night. Some were DirectX failing, others were BF3 failing.

I did some reading and I saw that disabling Origin while in game helps some people. I didn't have time to try that last night, but I would recommend trying this.

Just go into Origin, go to settings, click on "In Game" tab, and check/uncheck the setting to disable Origin while in game.
