Hardcore or Vanilla Poll 2

So far I have only played HC, and I actually like it. They did a good balance I think. I haven't played vanilla yet, though, so I'm not going to vote until I do. My try vanilla tonight.

You have to remember that this HC is a lot different than Cod. And when i reference that, I mean how many bullet hits it takes to take someone down.You still have to hit them with at least 2 or 3 to killem. I think the balance is just right.

I could care less about crosshairs and maps or spotting. If you have spotting you might as well run around telling everyone where you are so they can shoot you. Takes any stealth away from the game. And I for one dont like spending 5 minutes trying to flank a sniper or someone camping only to have my position revealed that I'm coming. Specially on the large maps.

Tanks are another issue. They are very hard to kill in the first place. With tank heavy maps, you'd get a bunch of guys that are decent with tanks take over a game. When there are few players in game. There will never be enough eng. to kill all the tanks available.

We have that problem now when there arent but about 20 players or so in the game. Everyone gets in the tanks and aircraft and there arent even any targets on foot to shoot at. And with regen, you'd end up with only armor and aircraft moving around. And 1 or 2 eng. have a hard time enough going up against armor that are decent. That plus you have tank guys that wont even engage another tank. Just infantry. Very frustrating if they would be able to regen a tank.

I guess you could always create an armor and aircraft only game. That might be fun. But at least HC gives you a better chance at destroying something that is hard to kill anyway.

I still prefer Vanilla if the server is full. Since the Cain vanilla is usually pretty light, I am going to brew up a big ole' pot of coffee tonight after work and play some HC on Cain's.

If we get some tactical stuff going on in TS, I could see me liking HC (on Cain's at least). Typing/reading is just too cumbersome when there is no text to speech.

Voted hardcore for mostly the same reasons mentioned above. I do have to say though, I wish the minimap was gone as well.

The mini-map only does any good when someone spots a tank or an enemy, and so far few folks are spotting either!

Spotting is something nobody does. Apparently people don't understand when I say "Q Wins Battles"

I think Origin's server browser isn't all that fixed when searching for hardcore only servers. Meaning while I was searching for hardcore servers only, it also ended up with non-hardcore servers in the list. Read those values in the chart listed above, I too played in non-hardcore servers which I thought they were hardcore.

I'd use it more if the damned game would let me bind it to where I want it...it seems no matter what key I put Q is still the only one that works for spotting/orders, so I have to go from the arrow side of the keyboard to find Q while in battle if I want to spot.

You also have to be right on with the spot. In beta you can spam the spot as a heli gunner. (should still do it as well).

You use arrow keys? Wow!

Do you have a mouse that allows you to set keys as a button function? Like a Logitech with the thumb buttons?


As for being "Right On", I find there's a small radius around the crosshair that will give credit for the call, but yes, it's more like a shotgun reticule than an area of effect calling like it was in beta. lol
