    Is it really for PC.

So I was reading the link that Slice put up below and it seems that if the rumors are correct that halfway through development they starting putting emphasis on the console aspect.

Kinda makes sense since you dont have any of the extra features that BF2 had. This is one of the quotes that made sense.

That explains the lack of PC specific features, crap squad management, no in game ping, no VOIP, no spectator mode, no battlerecorder, no sensitivity settings for vehicles and aircraft, poor flight mechanics and control that do not suit a mouse at all, mediocre joystick support, lalalala commo-rose, massive HUD for vehicles/aircraft, maps catered for 24 players and not 64, all standard PC features missing or poorly implemented. If I were Dice I would be embarrassed with the PC release compared to previous battlefield titles. Hold your head in shame Dice
This kinda makes a lot of sense, since we lag like hell when the server fills up.

My disdain for anything console has been magnified now with this information. Console gaming has single handedly destroyed the best gaming platform that was solely responsible for gaming in the first place. Almost 6 year old technology still getting suckers to buy em. What a freakin scam.

It was also stated the DICE pressured EA into an early release because of MW3 coming out around the same time. They wanted to be first out so EA had no choice but to go with getting the console parts in first and dumbing down the best parts of the game for PC so the crappy ass consoles would even work.

Our only hope is that there will be future patches that can bring it some semblance of the former BF game. I'm very sad after this information.

While I don't disagree with the overall sentiment and also believe consolization of PC games is a very BAD thing, you're way off with this statement.

Consoles starting with Pong through Atari, Intellivision, and Nintendo started the first real wave of home gaming, not computers. Most people couldn't afford a computer back then, and the spread of the home pc didn't really begin to take off until the internet became affordable for homes.

There are things to like about both consoles and PC games. What the developers need to learn is to stop mixing the two, and stop bastardizing and dumbing down PC games to cater to consoles. Keep Halo on consoles, and keep smart, fully-featured games like your Elder Scrolls, Dragon Ages, BF2s, and Mass Effects on PC. (though props to Mass Effect for probably being the best transitional game out there, equally effective on both platforms).

Outside of the GTA games, there are very few console games that transfer well to PC, and the audiences are generally different. Developers need to learn this and instead of trying to shoehorn one to the other, make the versions of games deliberately different to maximize the strengths of the platform.

So why hasnt there been any console upgrades in the last 5 years? I'll tell you why, it's because they dont have to.That and they havent said anything because they dont know any better. The reason being is because console gamers for the most part overall are casual gamers. Christmas present and birthday stuff is what it's about. Little johnny getting mom and pop to buy the thing. And there are a lot more little johnnies out there than hardcore gamers on PC. So the developers prostituted themselves out for money. The day the console was developed was the day PC gaming changed. "cough.. Aim Assist cough"

And I do agree with your premise, that some games should be developed just for PC. But we wont see that anymore, just because of the money aspect. They cant seperate the two because of sales. No one wants to just tap a small portion of the market so we suffer because of it.

Thus my statement about my disdain for anything console. But I dont think anyone would disagree, that if it wasnt for consoles PC gaming could be light years ahead of where we are today. It's like consoles have to tag along for the ride and we suffer. You cant argue that. Nor can you argue that devs will ever just make a PC exclusive game. Publishers just wont let it happen.

If Dice and EA were smart they would release the mod tools and this thing would take off for the better. We can only hope. I'd like to see this thing modded up to perform the way it should. But as it is now we wont get good game performance in a 64 server with it being dumbed down for 24 or 32. Just wont happen.

Because the economy is in the tank and the console developers don't want to ask the consumer to pay $700 for the PS4/XboX720.

Plus, the way the tech is heading, most insiders believe the next step is to integrate the console into the television, just like how current TV's are made with the internet ready to go. If that's the next step you don't want to be the company left behind because you didn't keep up with the pace.

Ok, so lets just back it up to say maybe 2 or 3 year old technology. Doesnt matter how you paint it. It still comes up the same. Economy had absolutely nothing to do with it that far back. But yet PC components just kept right on moving up. And the difference is again, because they dont have to when you have the little johnnies gettin mom and pop to buy em.

I wouldnt upgrade either if I didnt have to but that aint the case with us. But why upgrade something when you can sell obsolete hardware to idiots who dont know that things could be better. Can you imagine how cheap you can get that old stuff in consoles. So as the time progressed their profit margin widened as the parts became obsolete and can get some mfg. in Taiwan or China to keep on making them for almost nothing.

It's not the hardware, it's the games. I prefer shooters and RPGs on the PC. I can't get Zelda or Mario anywhere but consoles. I put as much time into the PC-only Terraria as most other games lately with more than 40 hours, and the graphics look like 1996 console. It's the gameplay, story, and characters that get me into the games, not the chipset.

Agreed. There are things to enjoy greatly about both, and they need to stop mixing the two.

The fact that EA says it was catering to PC gamers at the start was just a marketing ploy. Things like that make me want to just pack it up and go outside.
