NYC DLC content

Battlefield 3 is known to be coming with a lot of DLC and the next six months will be full of DLC according to EA. The first being the Back to Karkand expansion pack due out this December. Now BeefJack, a gaming site claims that a reputable source has told them that future Battlefield 3 DLC will include New York City.

If you have to buy those map packs, they are going to be a problem for Server admins... You cannot include one or two in a regular rotation it will empty the server...

Yeah doing DLC only maps is gonna be the downfall of the game, mostly because it will force server admins to run more then 1 server if they want to be able to play the new maps, karkand won't be that bad probably because most people already have the DLC.

Maybe we should start or restart a pole to find out how many of us have the karkand DLC to see if it will be worth running the maps/server for it

I agree with Cain. I kind of hate how video games are doing this new trend of releasing a somewhat unfinished game and expecting people to buy DLCs. I'm a big Gears of War 3 fan, and if I'm not on BF3, I'm on GoW3 (during my free time). Problem is, there are things on the GoW3 disc that you have to buy to unlock, like the latest DLC Horde command pack they released. I think it's pretty pathetic. Just release the game polished and ready to go. This is one reason I'm excited for Guild Wars 2. It'd probably have been released months/years ago but ArenaNet wants the game to be completely bug free and completely polished before release. Sure they'll have expansions, but I don't want to be forced to buy the game or $60 and then spend about another $120 to play extra content, especially on a game that requires a lot of people to buy it in order to play it with a community, so I agree completely with Cain on this one.

I'll for sure play BtK, since I loved those BF2 maps (except Wake Island), but this NYC map DLC? Nope. Unless it's completely free.

Why doesn't anyone make a game or DLC in Chicago? NYC is in like every other game. You never see other cities.

I don't understand why they made the DLCs (at least BtK) such that you can't just add those maps to your regular rotation. These are in no way like an expansion (like BF2: SF and BFBC2 Vietnam were). They're just new maps, and they should just be added to the map list. I think this is just a way for them to try to make more money.

The thing is just find out what people play most, and that is the rotation you run. Because I can already tell you this, other than Caspian, I can care less to play any of the other current BF3 maps. They just are not that great. Especially compared to the maps we had in BF2. That is why I think Karkand DLC will be a hit. Those maps are better than anything we currently have in BF3.
