    Me and choppers...

    ...just totally don't get along.

I've sucked at them since BF2 days. I keep trying, spend time on empty servers flying and practicing. You guys who rule with them are like gods to me. I guess if I had a joystick, that might help?

So if you see me sitting in the pilot's chair in a chopper, be warned... we will be running into a tower or something not moving.

    Enter at your own risk.
[this is where my funky sig would go. But I don't have one.
So all you get is this crappy text]

wow in a plane I actually killed someone the other day. I can fly a transport, but don't expect me to kill anything when flying it.

No crashing into towers, just stay higher in the air You'll get used to it in practice, but joysticks really help - that and a good rudder/throttle separate from the joystick.

actually towers aren't the real problems its the things shooting at you from the ground

Yeah, I saw Twink get into the chopper and I followed, right on spawn. I felt like it was a good idea. 10 seconds later, my carcase was burning inside a crashed helicopter and I'm screaming in TS!

Sometimes I'll say something like "pilot sux" when Im just sitting there and my screen showing we are taking a nose dive to somewhere and crash. I'm just giving them a hard time. I know how to fly the jets and heli with k/m, but I have my moments too. Its when I try to show off or trying to out maneuver that jet behind me that I'll crash. HA HA sometimes I'll fly low to the ground and a tree or light poles comes out of no where. doh!

seek cover...stay behind your team....try to watch for air threats and your gunner mop up ground targets....don't go charging in to the front lines because that aa will rape you every time ...pilot use your flares if you get a lock on don't use until you hear the sound of a incoming round....gunner running thermal optics and a tv guided rocket and your gold ...if pilot is watching for air targets and has to break away from the action be ready to shoot at air targets

                  Mouse ftw!

The key to helo's is to be sensitive with the controls. I admit the controls suck compared to BF2 flight, but still very workable. If using kb/mouse gently tap the throttle keys to maintain level flight and when approaching flag or drop off point really pull the nose up to at least 15 degrees to stop faster.

Remember you can click and hold RMB to pan the cockpit.

Also if you're the pilot always set up a shot for the gunner, the gunner is the important part in the chopper. I usually give them a 5 degree pitch up attitude at least if we're really low.

Thanks for the tips, but I feel that hours and hours and hours of practice will be needed, and I rather just run and shoot things.

I laugh when we are two racing for the chopper and the other guy jumps in first and immediately switches to the gunner seat.

And yeah, with KP, I think I flew a bit too low and ran into a pole or something. I could only imagine how it was in TS, I was logged in at the time. People love to curse me out when I do that, I just laugh.

Transports are ok... make it go straight up, then you are a mobile spawn point. Keep the side gunners views on the action so they can shoot. When someone shoots at me, just jump out and let them all go boom. hahaha

I am getting close to guided missiles in the attack chopper, I don't mind piloting as long as the gunner has the zoom perk and I can stay way back but man am I looking forward to guided missiles.

I'm the same way completely with Choppers. I don't get it, since I am fairly good in Jets (as some of you know), but when it comes to flying a chopper, I either crash or get shot down instantly. Unless it's the minibird. I donno why but that thing seems so much easier to fly.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who can quickly turn the heli into a fireball.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
