I was going to ask for it to be lowered to 2 TKs. I'm sorry, but the amount of TKs is unreal. I mean I get TK'd at least 2 or 3 times a match if I am rushing. Old people with terrible reflexes or idiots that just can't check before shooting. I wish it would temp ban people for 3TKs at least 10 minutes. Let the blind idiots think about checking their targets.
I don't think I TK'd more than 10 people the total 100 hours I've been playing this game.
I've been kicked once for TKs. Or at least that's what I assume happened. I got a "server disconnected" message immediately after a team kill.
Some maps are made for team killing. With horizontal choke points and tanks operating in confined spaces, that's a recipe for friendly fire. Last night I got team killed twice in a matter of minutes by tanks running over me. The first time I (stupidly) was repairing a friendly tank from behind. Won't do that again. And the second time I was advancing using a friendly tank for cover, when he suddenly stopped and threw it in reverse. I tried to scramble out of the way, but didn't move fast enough.
I think 3 TKs is enough. That allows for honest mistakes, but discourages reckless play.

Agree. If anything I will lower it...
3 TKs per person allows 96 TKs per round, and folks want me to allow more TKing???
The thing is, K_Phantom, how often do you get teamkilled by the same person? I get TK'd all the time too. It's annoying, especially when you get killed more times by your team than the enemy, but what's even more annoying is when an honest person gets kicked.
There have been tons of times where I've scratched my head in confusion on how I got a teamkill. For example, being disabled as the pilot of a helicopter sometimes gives you a TK if you crash because you were disabled. Right there is the potential of 1-3 teamkills and a kick, depending on how many passengers died in the crash.
There are other times, on a map like Seine, where an entire enemy squad will be inside a building holding a vital choke point. No one takes them out, so you attempt to with a rocket or a tank. You fire it, kill all 3 or 4 of them, but you have teammates not looking at all and running around and getting squished by the debris.
Also, as a person that likes to use vehicles, I could be moving 1 MPH and all of a sudden get a teamkill because people are walking around my tank at the start of the match and/or are frustrated they didn't get it so they purposely try to get me to TK them.
Then there are maps like Seine, Bazaar, and Peak that often have a load of enemies bunched up. So, what should you do? Well, my good conscious tells me to throw a nade into the pile of enemies, or fire off an RPG. So I do. Bang, 3 kills. Oh, what do you know, an idiot teammate decided to run in there with a spray and pray tactic, only to get killed by my nade.
And lastly, as a vehicle whore, RPGs/SMAWs are very powerful in this game, mainly because there is no point in being any class besides the engineer since medics don't revive and support hardly throws down ammo (when its needed). So, everyone is an engineer, thus everyone has rockets. So when you've got the "WARN" label and are getting a static screen getting hit by an RPG every 5 seconds, you gotta pop that baby in reverse or you're complete screwed. Oh, sorry to the teammate trying to repair me. I guess no one learned from BF2 that being behind a tank is ridiculous.
There are 1000 ways to die, according to a TV show. Thus, there are probably about 1000 ways to accidental TK. There also maybe 96 TKs allowed, but there's no reward in using them. In fact I've been killed before typing "Sorry" to a teammate I accidentally killed.
However, I'd much rather have 3 Tks than 2. I think I'd be getting kicked every hour if 2 was the limit, due to the examples I've posted. And not to mention, the same reason Apache posted. I don't get why the hell EA/DICE decided to let people change their uniforms in a team game...
you look at the uniforms? I just see the color above them or something. Come to think of it I think its the lack of tagging above their head that makes me shoot. I don't even notice color of any uniform, Nor do I change mine.
I have maybe 2-3 tks in a 2 hr time span. While I have hit a jeep or heli on accident with a tank those are the only times I have been kicked.
I could say slow down your gameplay or drop your settings so your FPS shows up easier?
I think most people on our server are not TK'ng on purpose and see alot of I'm sorry on the chat area when it happens.
Above and beyond all other things have fun. If you were playing football and someone hit you to hard you say your sorry and keep playing. Just have fun.

Well, I'm glad to see you have the magic system that puts the icons on the right players fast enough to actually make a difference. The rest of us have to deal with the delay in friendly identification that is coded into this game, which wasn't there with BF2 or BC2.
I can't tell you how many times a guy comes around a corner and starts running at me, and I don't get ANY indication he's a friendly until I see the teamkill message. If the indicators are working, I know there's someone around that corner before it looks like they're Ramboing me.
I've seen delays of 3-5 seconds before the friendly indicators pop up (I'll take longer while in a vehicle because I can absorb more damage, and sometimes I'll just sit there and watch to see how long it takes to show me this guy is on my team). That's unacceptable in a fast paced online FPS.
Pay attention to the points about vehicles and running into bad situations. I see both all the time, and I accidently run over people who didn't know better, people who deliberately got in front of me, and am killed myself if I happen to accidently get in front of a friendly vehicle. People run in front of me ALL THE TIME when I'm set up on a bipod laying down suppression (Suppression!) in another fruitless attempt to get the ribbon, and go charging right in front of me--even people sitting there watching me shoot.
Other factors may include FOV. I use default, so I don't necessarily see people coming up behind me who may run in front of my fire before I can stop my bursts. Finally, the rubberbanding, which is hopefully mostly fixed and can lower TKs that way. I've fired bursts that kill some guy who banded right in front of me.
I don't look at the uniforms but sometimes it's obvious. I mean, if I'm on the US side, I'm not going to empty a clip into a black dude. But, some people with high ranks wear black armor on the US side, and the Russians often wear a black. In BF2, it was quite easy to tell who was an enemy and who wasn't purely based on looks. It's a bit harder in this game. I often look at the mini map to see if a teammate is coming around the corner, but we all know how much the minimap can get clustered.
It happens very rarely that I shoot a teammate because he came around a corner. I can also see the triangle, but in certain situations, when that teammate is acting aggressive towards you (firing near you, running up to you), you shoot first and ask questions later. Because... if it is an enemy, you're the one dead.
for suppression.. try standing up and shoot over everyones head. You might get the supression more for shooting around them then directly at them. I suppressed a guy mortaring when 2 of us were trying to kill him.
When playin with Drisel and Skudman, you might as well get ready to get kicked for tk'n cause they aint the sharpest tools in the shed. I tell you what, those guys stuck their heads up in front of me so many times on Tehran Highway, I cant even remember how many times I killed em. I think I rejoined the game 3 times.
Naw, i'm just kiddin, but the issue with not being able to recognize enemies is a problem. And in BF2 and BC2 the names would appear straightway when you got close enough. Even behind bushes. But the uniforms where at least distinguishable.
This game, the icons shrink to micro size when close, and you cant even see em untll you're either dead (in case of an enemy) or you get a tk ( in case of a friendly).
It does need to be addressed.

Trust me, I do this. I find that if I start shooting to close to them, I just sort of end up killing them. I think my subconscious can't just sit there and watch an enemy live.
Don't forget all of the different camouflage patterns help make it more difficult to identify someone.

Well sadly I must be a blind idiot (new glasses come in about a week, side effect of diabetes) and obviously lacking the skills of K Phantom...
I typically get about 1-2 TKs per map. Or if I'm really unlucky a double TK with a rocket.
But I gotta agree with Rand when it comes to the friendly indicator popping up. And sometimes guys are just to dark from a distance to make out which side they are on.
I can say the IR sight has helped a little in trying to ID a target. But other then that I'm good with being kicked after 3. Sometimes the kick is so immediate I dont even see the TK kill on my side before dropping back to the desktop and seeing the red box about being kicked by the admin.

Reason: update
I am OK with 3 Tk's but I sure wish I could have some way to pay back the "friendly" who snipes me out of my chopper seat so he can steal it at the beginning of the round
HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
