    BF3 and Bandwith.

Does anyone know how much bandwidth BF3 uses? When I originally installed the game it defaulted my graphic settings to High. The game looked great but was hitching and rubberbanding. I was getting freezes. I knocked the settings down to medium, it helped a little, but I was still getting freezes and some hitching.

I had a basic cable connection, 1up, 10 down. My cable company was offering a discount on their better service so I opted for it.

Now it runs silky smooth, I was even able to up the graphics back to high. Is this a coincidence? Or is BF3 using more bandwidth?

You just came here to brag about your speed, didn't you?

Lol, no. I think it has something to do with the up load speed.

If it has something to do with the upload speed let me know because I want a ping like yours man haha

At the moment I'm running 2.66 down and .34 upload speed according to speed.net

Also my ping for Cain's lair is 66

If I could get down to 12ms I would be extremely happy haha

But yeah, definitely let me know if you come across any information on that.

You have no idea how tiny the amount of packets needed to play online. I know for a fact that Call of Duty 4's max packet withdraw was about 100Kbs. That's nothing. Even if you multiply that by 3 it's still nothing. Though I doubt it needs more than 150Kbs to run. I used to download at 170KBs and upload at 30KBs and still ran the beta pretty damn well.

Maybe you were moved to a newer section of your ISPs network when you were upgraded that is less oversubscribed?

That can/does happen a lot with my ISP.

lol, my net is 30/30.. For what I pay for it, I've got it at a steal.

As for lagging... It was most likely just a massive packet loss issue you had.

Turns out the problem I was having is related to a CDMA appliance I have installed in my home network for our cell phones. It caused big time packet loss.
