Server news 11/13

Well folks we have been doing great this week.

All the little tweaks, adjustments and so forth are starting to pay off.

We made it thru the night and the early morning, for the first time ever, and the BC2 server only did that 3 times in a year and a half.

Thank you to all the folks playing exclusively in our server and who hop right back in after a crash. ...

I turned the AFK kicker on because we were so hard to get into at night, and that seem to have helped make it easier to join, hopefully the Que returns with the next patch.

I'm actually considering popping Metro back in for a while, but we will see.

Rules:

I keep getting asked this. Generally for the first month of so I'm very, very lenient. Another week or so of the "wild west" and we will start to point out our rules.

At this point I am more concerned about players than rules.

My rules are as always, are:
No cheating
No asshatting
No raping of the uncaps

The no cheating part is getting taken care of, we are back as a PBBans server and it is working GREAT.... We now have 1,086 cheaters banned from Cain's... Apparently the cheating is starting to ramp up, so I could not allow that to continue in our server.

In time I'll be adding back more and more layers of our cheat detection and removal, but PBBans is working amazingly well for this game.

Thankfully, every time it catches one of those it's also picked it up from other servers - not just CAIN's.

But it is pathetic. I am unsure if it's as frequent as it was in BFBC2, but either way it's still too frequent for my comfort. I don't know anyone here that understands the mentality of cheaters. There has to be a wire loose somewhere that causes the desire to want to cheat.

Couldn't agree more. I just don't understand them tbh. Is it the ridiculously high scores and getting there easy that drives them? Or just the sheer enjoyment of annoying others.

The sad thing is over 1k people have clicked on "Cain's Lair Hardcore" with the desire to cheat. Cain's is a popular server, but it's just one server out of thousands out there that host this game. It's a shame. Even so many people stat pad and think their K/D and/or unlocks/points determine if their opinion means more than someone elses.


Anyways, Metro should be fun, but I might complain about the TK limit again

I dont want to jinx it but I haven't seen a crash in a few days atleast. And ive put in 4+ hours a day probably.
