Hey guys,
I wanted to make this post for anyone that is new to Cain's Lair Regulars. I want to ask you to put on CLR tags if you would. If you come into the server alot and I mean alot, put on the CLR tags and represent your favorite server. The reason behind this is so when we see you in a squad, we won't think that we're just playing someone that doesn't know what they're doing or someone that wants to do their own thing.

I've seen a few posts lately that are about team work and how CLR's are clan stacking or getting on the same team. This and that. The argument to that is definitely about teamwork and communication. As long as we're with someone that actually plays the game instead of staying in their spawn and doing nothing, but mortaring or otherwise we're golden.

I know alot of people who don't come to the server normally will assume that we're clan stacking, but it's just like someone accusing another person of racism. We know in our hearts that we're not clan stacking and we know that we're getting with people that we can communicate with to achieve what we want to achieve.

If you play on this server alot and like the server itself, I ask that you put tags on and represent your favourite server. It's because of you that this server is alive and it's because of you that we will keep playing. This game is about team work and if you don't like team work, then please by all means play Modern Warfare.

Sorry, but this thread was ruined by "by all means play Modern Warfare". When Cain's Lair hosted Modern Warfare and WAW, a lot of people had nice teamwork despite the chaos, and it was probably the game that got a lot of people interested (or it could be that 2142 wasn't as great as BF2). I happened to have played a bit of MW3. The multiplayer is fun, regardless of it being more of an arcade shooter than a realistic shooter (despite BF3 being more realistic, it's still not even close to being a real battle). The Campaign was also about 1000000x more entertaining than the boring one in BF3.

Problem with folks, and ones that are really starting to piss me off, is they think Modern Warfare is for idiots, or people that want to throw their cash away (despite many of the people saying that wearing the 2142 tag, probably also playing Gears of War, Halo, Assassin's Creed, World of Warcraft, and all those other games that are direct copies with a few changes involved).

Fact of the matter is, Activision/InfinityWard made a great series of games, and kept the FPS alive. I'd also bet that BF3 wouldn't be anything without CoD. After all, there is a ton of CoD influence in this game and it's really easy to see.

So with all due respect, please stop being idiotic fanboys.


Anyways, moving on to the topic of this thread...

I use to wear the tag, and was a big part of CLR back in the BF2 days and 2142 days. I remember hosting knife contests (oh the fun) and all that. Then, I departed. That was about 2-3 years ago. Lots of stuff happened in my life, one of them was dealing with trolls on a WoW server. Put trolls and WoW together, and you've got the biggest idiots that deserve to die that you'll ever meet in your life. So, I developed a "Don't take shit" attitude. So, when I see someone cussing me out, or trying to be a dick to me, I stand up for myself. I obey the rules of this server, and always will, but I don't do it exactly in a friendly matter.

When you wear the CLR tag, anything and everything you do, people judge the entire community on. Let's say you started using an aimbot, and somehow bypassed punkbuster. You start going 90-1 with a pistol every round. People are then going to figure out that you're cheating, and since I believe no admins can ban yet, you're probably going to be stuck on the server being allowed to cheat until you do get banned. However, most people don't stick around if they're getting blatantly owned by a cheater. So, if they see {CLR}Hacksrgood, they're going to think that {CLR}CainslairRegular is perfectly fine with the hacks, and that this server welcomes hackers.

This is why it's crucial that everyone that wears the tag welcomes everyone and makes people feel this is a good place to play. They're going to look up to the CLR's before they look up to people that don't wear the tag.


The other reason I personally don't wear the tag....

I'm 21. My buddies are 21-22. Everyone that's 21 or over knows exactly what its like being 21. I get home (I don't drink or drive before you ask, we have a designated driver at all times) and we're a bit intoxicated. I've had a few buddies play as well while a bit buzzed. I don't want one day to be intoxicated, I log in the server with the tag on, and start randomly cussing at people killing me. Although, I highly doubt that'd ever happen, although I have played after a few Jack n Cokes.

lol I'm coming back to the MW3 comment. My intention was never to call someone stupid or insult anyone in anyway about the game they play. All I'm saying is that MW3 is more suited for solo play styles than Battlefield 3.

Sure, you can have teamwork in any game that you play, but BF3 seems to be the game that encourages team play more than any other game that I've played. Certain roles require that you do certain actions.

I don't want to get into that debate as it's something that's completely off topic to what the thread is about.

My goal for this is to get more people who come on the server to wear the CLR tag proudly. Most people that come to Cain's Lair are decent mature people that won't go team killing nor cheat.

Every once in awhile you'll have an asshat or two, but that's to be expected. This shouldn't be taken as a recruitment post either. This is just a request to show you love the CLR community as much as I do.

I agree, I hope all our regulars either have CLR embedded into their name permanently, and/or use the clan tag.

We will get the TS channel thing fixed soon, then we will be as close to BF2 Coms as we can get. We are not team stacking, and I hope we continue to run a friendly server, and as always I encourage you folks to interact with all our visitors via text chat. Just take a few seconds when you die to say Hi to folks and welcome them to our server and invite them to our forums.

Ignore Deadly assassin, he has been banned before from here and is quickly on his way to being banned again...

1) MW3 is for idiots and only idiots play that thing.
2) I'm thrilled Deadly Assassin does not wear the CLR tag, and I hope he never does!

My intentions weren't to be hostile, I apologize if it appeared that way. I'm just getting sick of seeing hate towards MW3. People use "Go play CoD" as an insult. I have nothing against Niles I just think a lot of people act fairly idiotic by constantly telling people to go play CoD. I saw it about 5 times a day when people had disagreements before I got Skyrim (Aka the last time I played BF3). On a side note, I feel BF3 tries to force teamwork more than encourage it.

I guess a more friendly version is...

1) Modern Warfare and BF3, although both FPS, are completely different and both have their pros and cons, thus shouldn't be used as an insult because people can play whichever game best fits their needs, and they aren't idiots for not playing the game you are, and it should REALLY stop being brought up everytime people want to talk about BF3. I've been told to go play CoD more times on BF3 than from people that play CoD and want me to play with them.

2) People that wear the CLR tag represent the server, and what one CLR wearer does, people stereotype it into being what the entire CLR wearers do. So if one acts up, people are going to think every CLR is okay with that, just like you think they'd think CLR players are stackers if they're all one sided. So, all in all, becareful who you wish to wear the tag. I've seen a few new faces being hostile (and actually intending to) on the server. Back in BF2, that would be an instant ban if you wore the tag.

3) I choose not to wear the tag because I don't want to be bound by personal rules, because, regardless of the "Founder" showing growing hostility and unwelcomeness towards me the second I rejoined, I actually give a crap about this community, and was one of the reasons I even spent money to buy this game in the first place. I've got an active social life, and some involves drinking. Like FieryDragon did on Halloween, some people tend to have a few and that builds up hospitality towards other players. Happens. (and no, I wasn't drinking when I made my previous post, it just came out wrong).

Again, I apologize Niles if I seemed hostile. My intentions weren't to offend you or anyone. I guess the CoD comments keep getting to me because I think they're petty and stupid.

@Badhabitz. There's an internet term, can't remember how it goes, I think something like... "Icwutudidthar" or whatever. So, you've never picked up a bottle? Strange, because my brother is returning home in January after serving a 4 year term, and has many drinking stories. My father and his father have also told me their stories of drinking alcohol while on leave and while even stationed. I respect your service, but please, respect my intelligence.

MW3 sucks! Get over it. This community almost unanimously favors Battlefield games. If reading that MW3 sucks and that bothers you then maybe you should learn to take it with a grain of salt or move on to a different community. Otherwise I just suggest you understand that most of us are going to hate on CoD (regardless if it's justified or not), and if you really want to fruitlessly press the issue you're going to find that support for you is going to rapidly wane.

As far as the comment about being 21, you just struck a nerve with me, and the point was not centered on drinking. I'm just going drop it.

That's fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion. My opinion is that it's immature to bring up MW3 or tell people to go play it if they have a suggestion/complaint and that it's pretty idiotic. When I mentioned that, it was on a large scale, not just to Niles. I see people everyday telling me to go play MW3 because people have a different playing style.

As for the 21 thing, it was obvious it was centered around drinking, as a majority of 21 year olds take advantage of that, and even beyond that age. I apologize if it struck that nerve, but I also hope it was easy enough to see that my intention wasn't to strike it, and had I known, I wouldn't have brought that up.

Moving back to topic - if people want to wear the CLR tag, that's fine. I talked to Cain in PMs about my situation here, and has been dealt with. But, my other point was that if people choose to wear it, they need to act appropriately and maturely because, although this isn't a clan, everyone assumes it is.

Gotta say I agree with you concerning MW3, I'm a bit of a COD hater and obviously a bf3 fanboy, but played and enjoyed both (not equally though xD)

Logically, COD is more of a solo/arcade action game while bf3 is on the coop/trying to feel realistic side, this is all there is to say about those, and definitely no need to do a contest of who's best at pissing on the other game.
