Yeah so the scope would be useless on maps like Firestorm, probably Caspian (not sure how warm the ground temp is lol) and Kargh Island...

I wish it wasn't a combo though... either make it IR or NV... NV would be great for Damavand tunnels, bazzar might be ok for some parts and Tehran...

Only ones cryin were snipers. They couldnt hide very well when you had the IR.

So the flashlights in broad daylight are still gonna blind your ass, and the tank ho's stiill have thermal. Sometimes I really, really wonder how Dice comes up with some of the stuff they do.

Reason I liked the IR was that it virtually eliminated campers and sniper hides. With the way that you now blend in with cover, it makes campin that much easier.

Now the campers have an advantage. I could name a few.

Hence - Alittle excessive. They didn't need to nerf it THAT bad, but it did need a slight tweak. I have found it isn't that much of an advantage against a good player. I used it mostly for when I was attacking Forest/C in Caspian, or in other similar situations in where I was dealing with people camping in bushes/etc.

I agree with everything said here. On the other side of it, I used it maybe on two maps. I though it was lame, just looked way too unrealistic to me. Was no fun to use in game at all. Flashlights and lasers have to go period, I think they are even worse. It seems that everyone is using them though.

Lasers are fine by me. The trade off with them is that they give you away.

I would like the lasers better if just the user could see it. It has the same blinding effect as the flashlight imho.

the laser works somewhat, but again everyone can see it. Might as well use the flashlight.

The advantage to the laser is that it tightens up your hip-fire accuracy. You can see the effect when you have a crosshair in vanilla mode - which is not available in hardcore.

The flash light is more a tool for blinding the enemy than actual use in low-light conditions. The worst part, is there really are no low-light conditions in which a flashlight is actually useful. I am including Metro, Damavad Peak, and Tehran Highway. Those maps, on the default brightness settings, are still bright enough for me to see without any kind of support from a light/view enhancing add-on - weither it be IRNV, Thermo, or the Flashlight. If there were parts that were well and truly pitch black, the flash suppressor, the flash light, the IR, the Thermo, would all actually have more practical/needed use. Unfortunately, blacked-out maps have not been popular for years. The amount of places in the default maps - all of them - where light-enhancement is useful doesn't make the attachment worth having on my weapons.

Some of my favorite maps in BF2:SF were night maps where you actually needed night vision...

The IRNV is not unrealistic by any means. The name might be different to protect..something, who knows, but its not unrealistic. I am referring to a very similiar device in the military inventory. It can be used during the day and as well as night with very minimal differences. It can be calibrated, therefore eliminating the whole ground temp vs. something else. Kinda guess thats why I dont whine too much if I get picked off with one.

Lasers and flashlights...draws your attention doesnt it. Why would they have to go? They show the enemy's location...as well as yours. I dont mind shooting peeps across the field who forget to turn their flashlight/ lasers off. Maybe for them to put in lasers that can only be seen when using thermals or NVD's. Which again, is realistic. Same can be said for flashlights lights.

Tanks..eh, maybe update the model of a tank or something with the times. T-90 seems outdated to be carrying thermal imagery. But..thermals on tanks definitely not unheard of, maybe integrate Strykers in the game or MRAPs?

But hate to say it...with technology advancing as it is. A sniper or anyone else would have to have some sort of ...cloaking outfit or their body temp becomes uniform with the ground or something to avoid detection. But trust me...its very hide to hard nowadays, ask an insurgent.
