I'm not too excited about the stinger missile.... I mean it's already powerful enough against jets and most of the time there's a bug to where I don't hear if the stinger is coming for me or not.
So I get hit by a stinger and boom! Dead before I know what hit me.
Everything looks alright, but I think alot of people will be using burst fire for pretty much every gun now. That would be the smart way to go. You don't have to use a burst fire gun, just set your gun to burst fire.
IRNV will definitely be useless now. Which isn't such a bad thing. It would've been a nice touch to spot enemies from a far and had people call out enemies.
Perhaps if they would've had an IRNV binocs it would've been great.
No offense to those who use it, but the IRNV just showed the player's skill level. Didn't really matter to me about it. Just alot of whiners on BF3 forums that caused the change.
Well I'm excited about the Jets getting a beefed up gun. It's about time because when I would fire at a chopper, it just would not go down haha

I've been having issues getting Jav's or Stingers to really be useful. For as exposed as you need to be for either, the damage does not justify the risk. The ability to fire and forget with the RPG/SMAW is priceless when you consider the damage the Stingers/Jav'd do. Couple that with the JAV/Stinger only being useful against one type of vehicle, and you've got a flat-out useless weapon.

Okay, that part I understand, but from my experience if a guy gets a stinger shot on my jet, I'm going down in flames.
Although it should be better now that the choppers have a longer reload time on the flares.. With a jet though, pfft, I'll just fly close to the boundaries until my flares reload haha

I have found that one shot from a stinger does not down jets.

Fixed so you can assign an axis and use as a digital input. This makes it possible for the player (on pc) to assign one of the sticks on a gameped to be used for throttle/brake.Nauticas

Stingers are a good way for engineers to make ZERO points (and be worthless to the squad), but they are a very effective deterrent against helos. Most skilled chopper pilots will stop flying if stinger alarms are whining all the time. Helos can breaks missile lock by using flares or hills, but the hassle radically reduces their kills. I will always equip the stinger if choppers are being effective. Also, I use the explosives perk to have enough ammo.
Example of me versus a skilled chopper pilot: I get lock & fire, he flares, I get lock & fire, I hit without disabling, I get lock & fire, he flares, my next missile would disable, but he's usually abandoned or repairing by then.
Javs are usually useless. Special cases: I can get lock on a target much further away than I can hit with RPG, and it pursues the target as it moves. Also, when possible, Javs are fun to use with help from an active SOFLAM (not in auto mode) and an ammo box.

Screw the guys that use gamepads and joysticks. I try to fly with my KB/M and dodge things but the moment that douche with the joystick comes in he just makes 180 degree turns on a dime and slow to a halt within a second. They have made it really unfair to people that don't doucheout on a joystick or use a girly controller.

Me and Bean both equipped stingers on a couple of rounds.
One would lock and shoot, flare, other would get lock and shoot, and kill. Fun Fun Fun ...
But i agree, a single shooter is not very effictive in downing jets or choppers.
It CAN be done, if you lock, and wait for flare, lock and shoot. But only a 30 percent success rate if that.
