Colorblind Mode - Better even for non-impaired?

Have you guys tried the new colorblind mode?

I saw it in a youtube video, then found a thread in battlelog about it here. (Check out the image comparisons)

I am working from home now so can't play, but I definitely want to give it a try tonight. I tend to play in the dark, and have issues with the neon defaults...

Yeah too bad Dice caved in to popular demand and gave them this mode. I doubt there are THAT many colorblind people playing BF3. No need to give the rest of the "crutch lovers" another advantage.

7-10% of men suffer from red-green colorblindness... that's a pretty significant amount of people.

Okay, so I took a color blind test and I'm definitely not color blind, but that color blind mode does make a world of difference for being able to figure out things much quicker.

Less strain on the eyes as well. If anyone has an easier time seeing the colors and icons with this mode, it's because your eyes can adjust much easier to low light.

With the bright mode, your eyes have to adjust and figure out what your eyes are looking at.

That's why I always say that the IRNV scope wasn't a cheat, but rather an easier way to distinguish the enemies. Although being able to see like that during the day was a bit extreme. I like the way it is not. Tehran map was a good choice for not limiting the scope since it's at night.

I admit the IRNV was/is a crutch, but I don't really think colorblind mode is... It does not show you any additional info than normal, its just not annoyingly pastel and neon. Are you thinking that he is seeing more because of the mode? He is playing in a normal server, so they will see additional HUD items that we do not see playing in hardcore mode.

I wear glasses, but for nearsightedness, so I take them off when I play to avoid eye-strain. I sometimes have issues with things like halos around bright text. All this is doing is taking the normal info that is displayed in neon/pastel, and makes it a more defined color, and adds a drop-shadow.

Have you tried it yourself? In Counterstrike (the original, not sure about Source), you could change your HUD colors, which was especially useful if all you ever played was the washed out dust maps - very hard for me to see bright green on them.

BUT...I don't use this cuz I see it in my favor, you stick out to me.

I tried it today and I like it. The player's names other icons seem to stand out more.

There is a difference between being color blind, and THINKING you are colorblind. You are delusional. I am the color blue.
