Battlefield 3 - EA/Dice/PB issues

I'm trying but I've been having problems with PB and Avira this morning. Avira thinks PB contains a trojan. Manually updated PB and about to try again.

Rebooted
Stop Avira
Rerun the PB update

and still getting

uninstall PB and reinstall it again. Or since it's on the homepage, wait for them to fix it.

if you have windows 7 just go back to the last update.

Uninstalled PB completely.

Apparently I'm not the only one. 10 pages of people complaining about the same problem on Battlelog, just today.

Dice suggested that I manually download the PB files instead of running PBSETUP. I did this and it made no difference.

EA/Dice/PB are screwed right now.

We are aware that some Battlefield 3 players are experiencing connection issues with PunkBuster enabled servers.

This problem is limited to a small subset of players on PC and will not impact players on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

We are actively looking into the specifics of this issue and we are confident that we will have a permanent solution in place shortly.

In the meantime, if your connectivity has been affected, we recommend that in the interim you join servers that are not running PunkBuster. There is a filter setting for this in the multiplayer server browser.

Well here it is at least 24 hours later and EA/DICE/PB are no closer to resolving the issues than they were yesterday.

Complete fail for EA/Dice/PB and a complete win for the hackers......
