Pro tip #1: Don't toe to toe vs tanks if you're in a tank.
Tank Tips:
The ammo limit + lack of effective damage vs other armor puts you at a serious disadvantage should the equation change. IE: an engie decides to repair or fire an RPG... GG, you're dead.
Hold shift whenever moving straight, release when turning, otherwise you'll put too much torque into the turn and spin out. Who knew tanks could over spin!
Aim wise: aim for the engine. If you immobilize them, you can sometimes outmaneuver them and get a better shot.
Don't ever step out unless to RPG shoot when you know he's going to be over 1s before he fires again. Otherwise, you'll get fragged instantly. Sometimes that extra RPG shot will win the fight in a
1v1 situation. Most 1v1 involve whoever got the first shot off in a no misses situation. I've gotten countless opponents to <10 hp and they just win because they were first to fire.
X = anti-lockon for little to nothing, since very few recon laser designate.
Shift = overdrive
F1/F2 = position. Useful if you have a heli harrasing you and you're solo tanking.

Other Tank tips:
Charge
Go full speed into an opposing tank in order to displace/flip them. It can happen, especially on the Siege of Shanghai. There's a few spots where tanks can be prone to flipping/moved into dangerous position.
First example: There's part of the road near B that'll cave in. I'm not quite sure how the area cave's in, most likely
explosions or even possibly too much weight. But you can essentially push an oppossing tank into it.
Second example: Same applies or stairs nearby. They'll be tilted and possibly not have a clear shot.
Third example: You might be able to flip them simply by hitting them at the right angle. Lots of drivers will panic or not move, which isn't exactly ideal.
Choppers:
The gunner turret has an incredible angle of attack, close to 360 degree's and almost entirely vertical. Choppers can be
pesky as hell. A good gunner can keep them harassing you. Also, your main cannon has 360 angle horizontal but only 30 degree's vertical. Some pilots are dumb or cocky and hover low in order to hellfire/hydra missile. This leave them open to being 1 shot. Lessons learned the hard way for some flyboys. Rambo style. Forget which movie...

Tip for gunners in the Heli....
One don't let me fly
Two Let me shoot
Three Ammo takes a long time to reload just like the tanks. Fire in bursts that are as accurate as possible. Personally I don't like to zoom in and shoot better with normal view. If your the pilot and have targets that are not being engaged move away and let the gunner reload.

Oh wow, I had a whole book of tactic-related write-ups for Battlefield. I did it for BFBC2.
Here's a quickie:
The ground can have holes made into it. "Dig" behind cover to give yourself more cover. "Dig" a hilltop to take away enemy cover. "Dig" in a road to unsettle an enemy tank that is chasing/approaching. Some areas allow you to "Dig" enough that you can stand in the hole and not be seen.
(Digging refers to any HIGH explosive. RPG's, C4, etc. Frags do not do as much digging)"You cannot have 'slaughter' without having 'laughter'"

i just learned that there are metal detectors that actually GO OFF on maps that have office buildings. the one that comes to mind first is Objective C on Lancang Dam. I saw a video of a player that hides next to metal detectors and when enemies are near, their guns set off the metal detector thus alarm ringing and bright lights. he was picking off a few!
