China rising maps are only available to premium members until this weekend, so those are out until at least then. I do, however, agree that we should switch things up a bit. Maybe toss Shanghai into the mix?
According to the poll here, less than half of us bought a Premium subscription. Without that, players must wait until December 17 for access to China Rising.
So, those maps are "coming soon" to a server near you.
This is part of EA's ongoing effort to split communities and own the discussion via battelog forums.
The biggest problems with Paracel and Hotel is the lag. The storm and the collapse of the central building (respectively) really start to bog those down. They're both better than Flood Zone, but may be too laggy for many players.
i think we should have a run at all maps again and see how they fare. i have been playing all OG BF4 maps and they play fine except for some audio looping still. With all the updates out, I think it's worth trying it out!

I haven't had any crashes or any of the other bullshit since the most recent patch. The stuttering on paracel is gone, and I never had issues with Hanoi so I can't speak to that.
How many maps are 'restricted' because they are too laggy for the majority of players? Why is this?
Seriously?
Try reading the chat during a regular map that isn't laggy for everyone. You'll usually see a couple people badmouthing the server because of lag--oh, it's not their setup, or, you know, the poorly coded game, it's always the server . Compound that 10-fold in a map that actually IS laggy for more than a handful of people then imagine how long these folks are likely to stick around and keep trying to play.
If there is a map that is known to cause problems across a broad array of servers, I'm perfectly fine with not playing it on the Lair if that's what Cain decides. I'd rather play a "tired" map with 68 people than sit in a spanking "new" map with 10 trying for 2 hours to attract a crowd. Or try and run around in a thunderstorm when rubberbanding across the Pacific isles. Or get randomly dumped to desktop along with half the other players for no reason anyone can see. But that's just me.
I think the rotation is pretty solid right now actually. Shanghai would make it worse (I'm completely biased though since i have a 100% crash rate on that map)
Honestly I would bee cool with the rotation we have now if we took flood zone out of it. You get a good scout pilot (Wigz) with a good squad (seems like Juneau and Apache usually) and you just can't take them out. The tall buildings and the highway provide too much cover.
I'm just posting cause there needs to be variety. Shanghai is actually a lot of fun due to the lack of jets and aa-tank, the attack heli can actually do something heh.
I've been Alpha and will be Beta testing the Delta Force game. It's been really getting good reviews! Definitely a good Battlefield feel to it like the...
