    Balance? scramble

Is there no option to do anything about balance?

It seems every time I join, I go on a losing streak. Currently on a 5 loss streak. What I notice happens, is one team always seems to get 4-5 guys playing together, and it just slaughters the whole game.

Yes there is. I'll look at it, but it splits up squads every map, which gets annoying - for most more annoying than losing a map.

      I would find it annoying.

Me too, and what I've found in the past is that scramble still has a 50/50 chance of creating uneven teams the next round. Except this time you'll be on the losing team and not having fun with your buddies.

Winning team with strangers that don't talk and work together < Losing team with friends that are having a blast.

I was in a particularly good squad yesterday, with a fantastic medic ....

Juneau is correct. I would rather be on, and have been, the losing team with a great squad than on a winning team with an uncommunicative squad.

There are some teamscramble scripts that do it by squad. That way if you have a good squad you can stick with them atleast.

I'm not a fan of team scramble for the reasons mentioned previously by Juneau and Apache.

If you're worried about streaks, don't. It evens out--I'm currently riding a 15-1 run including a 13 game streak. I've also gone the other way there, and lost a ton in a row, and I'm now overdue for a 5-10 game loss streak. In the end I find I maintain between 55 and 60% win/loss ratio on CL games regardless of what game I play, how long I play it, and what the teams are like in a given round. In the end you just have to realize that on the Lair there are a lot of good players and good teamwork and accept that sometimes you're going to lose a few no matter how good you are because they outplayed you.

I wouldn't mind if it didn't break up squads. Honestly, BF is about team work, if people can't play as a team, stop joining squads. The whole point of a squad was to work together, but sometimes I wonder if people even use VoIP or even attempt to play as a team.

Example: why would you, as a tanker, not attempt to kill enemy vehicles if you have every opportunity to do so... shit like AA tanks, missile trucks, etc are like free kills for tanks.

Tip: don't cap flags with vehicles. Sets you up for C4 and engie rocket spam. Tanks, LAV's, etc are meant to force multiply, not be the force themselves. Whilst infantry are busy trying to take out armor, they give away their position, and can easily be taken out by your infantry.

What I see is a very large percentage of players who end up driving tanks are concerned with their own k:d ratio. I have a lot more fun actively hunting down and killing the biggest threats on the map: other armor.

I'll pick off anything else I see while waiting for an armor engagement or on the way to one, or while heading to a cap point, and I'll support my squad and team by doing what it takes. There's a lot of things people do that I've never been able to understand--at least, people who have played similar types of games in the past. Sitting in a tank an entire round far from the action and infantry sniping is one. Firing the secondary like a spastic chipmunk on speed when no target is in sight is another. It's like folks forget that every game of this type ends up with you lit on mini maps like a Christmas tree when that happens, yet they're still doing it.

By the way, depends on the tanker and the AA tanker. I've actually won those engagements in the AA tank before, without Zuni rockets.

Tip: please cap flags with helos. I like swatting helos out of the air.

I do not understand Helo pilots who refuse to take out infantry that are on top of buildings. They should be actively hunting them down and killing them. Of course, when I am the one on top of the buildings I also like them actively trying to kill me. I am Division 1 with the stinger.

Nothing beats getting a road kill will the heli. Now I have only gotten a road kill with a jet and lived to tell about it once. Sadly I was not using fraps at that time.

I used to have fun taking you guys out on the rooftops of Dawnbreaker. That is my favourite scout heli map.

just my 2 cents because I play on the server quite late...

A few days out of the week i play past midnight (eastern time zone) and I do find that every once in a while there is a chance that teams get stacked by chance and within 2-3 rounds, players start leaving from the team that is getting crushed. I'm talking 500-0 type rounds. Those are times when I do wish we had AutoBalancer. I've seen it in action on some other servers and i think they BENEFIT the server more than harm.

When people start dropping, it quickly snowballs and the server ends up disbanding which is unfortunate. I am a proponent of at least trying it out. I saw one called "AutoBalancer" and it tries its best to keep squads together as well!

Edit: I also forgot to add there are a couple maps off the top of my head where it is very easy for a good team to trap the other losing team in their own spawn. In Dawnbreaker, the advantageous team can corner the team that is closest to Echo and people on the roof of Echo can snipe their spawn. Also, Operation Locker I've seen it happen before and it's just a complete disaster and people quickly get mad and leave.

                              I wanted to respond earlier.

I had played a couple servers other than CAIN's. One had a balance run on it. It balanced by squads, not by individuals. This would allow you to play with your friends still, but would mix the squads up.
