I gotta say this game has many bugs. I don't think the word many even relate to how many bugs this thing has. Every time you log in there is a different problem. Disappearing weapons and rank. Playing an entire game with the experience meter showing a 0, all around. And all this after 2 patches? REDONCULOUS.

The rank going up to 55 from 1 was not a hack its just another glitch. Happened to me and a few of my buddies.

I think I saw a fix for the ping bug for Vista/Win7: find the game exe, right-click it, Properties, Compatibility tab, check Run as Administrator. I did this before ever launching the game, and ping has always shown for me in the server browser (running Win7 x64).

And something that might help with PunkBuster problems, also for Vista/Win7: Start > Run > Services.msc. Find PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB in the list. Right-click, Properties, Log On tab, check the "Allow service to interact with desktop" box. Do that for both.


So... is there voice chat? I see a push-to-talk key in my options, but I never hear anyone, and nobody ever seems to hear me.

Greta post. I made the changes you suggested and I will see if they help out. I played last night and the VOIP worked great but for some reason I had major lag issues and FPS issues. For some reason I was in the 20 frame range which was not the case the other night.

My latest experience with voice chat.

It works perfectly for a few people. Try it, you might be a winner.

Every time I use it, people say I sound garbled. Today, the distortion on Mapes voice made it sound like he was talking backwards. I tried listening backwards, but that didn't work either.

As far as the FPS goes...if you are a Nvidia user roll your drivers back as the newest driver causes serious lag and Nvidia are working on the issue

To fix the Punkbuster issue, run the Pbsvc.exe file.
It will add the A and B files to your game and end the problem there.

In terms of seeing your ping in the server browser, its a grand case of some do and some dont. I think its related to the firewall issue, as when I am in game I can see mine.

I have also pinged the server I play on and its off by about 75.

In regards to "hangtime" there isnt a hangtime, there just isnt a point by point feedback to tell you it's working. There are WAY more servers out there than you can believe, and the game is actually looking for one that isnt full that would be suitable for you based on your ping and location. In many cases it is having trouble finding it, because the best servers are always full.

Crash to Desktop is happening when a service is invoked in Windows. For example, my last to crashes to desktop were thanks to my virus scanner doing a check. BF2 just shut off as if I closed it myself.

My favorite bug is when the EA servers go offline and my game is unplayable for an hour because my account ID is stuck open as if I am still logged into the network.

Whoa thats weird. I've had most other people tell me they can hear me perfectly? Well the other two folks who had mikes. I have heard other folks come across as static.

Question is there a bug with the recon mortar binocs not working somtimes?
