Just for sh%ts n giggles I just looked at a couple of sites that rank servers. It's unfortunate that you can't sort on HC. However the top 5 worldwide are running conquest and different maps (at least at the time I looked). Clearly there are players that would play on such maps/servers it's a matter of getting the word out and getting people to play. As it is it looks like were hosting a server for snipers and hackers

I think it just needs time to attract the people that play the other maps too.

It took the server a bit to attract enough just to get full in the first place.

If the actual members are getting bored with the two maps then lets add a few more desert ones to change it up a bit. All the maps are decent and what clears the server out more then the map is not having CLRs in the server.

Well, I don't qualify as an expert, but I have played my share. What I believe whats happening is that because we have just 2 maps we get a high turnover. What that means is when the server tops out and everyone who's playing get's tired of just the 2 maps they leave. But because of different factors they are replaced fairly quick. So the server stays full. But only to the point of the saturation level. What that means is that we run out of players that have played here before and usually stop back by.

Eventually, those that are used to playing here run out. So that it starts to dwindle down and eventually gets empty. The reason it gets empty is that we haven't maintained the players from other parts of the world. Mainly Europe and some of a
Asia.And I think that's directly related to the map issue.

If, and its a big if, we had more maps, I believe the word would eventually get around and the players that are needed to keep the server full 24/7 will be available. Turnover is not a bad thing if you have the people to take their place. As it is now, I think people like to play here but they cant take but so much of just 2 maps. So they leave. And because we haven't built up enough return customers from other time zones. It eventually gets empty.

No server that runs full 24/7 can run like that unless they have players from different time zones to keep it going. I know I've played for some long hours on our server and it gets old real fast with just 2 maps. Thats why people come hit us a while and leave.I've played the wee hours of the morning and most were Europeans. With a few Russians and others mixed in. Turnover isn't a bad thing, in fact I think it's better to have turnover. Get more exposure that way. But you need that turnover to have more longevity per session. So if you want to maintain a larger number of players who will play longer. You have to add more maps.

I've played Battlefield probably more than anyone here. With the exception of maybe Phantom. And I can tell you the popular servers that I've played have more than 2 maps.

One last thing. If you add maps, you have to let them run through all the different scenarios that you might come up against. Weekends, weekdays, holidays, different things that would affect people playing. Thats the only way to get an accurate assessment of how its doing. Not just a couple of days. I don't know where the statistics are gathered for what works and what don't. But I'm a game player just like the rest of you. Not everyone is the same. But I know that 2 maps is not the answer for keeping a full server.

I think our server stays full with people who like those 2 maps. If we added more we eventually would stay full with people who liked the new combination.

I agree. I know I got a tad frustrated when the new maps were put in only because I didn't know them. I was way happy though for the change. It was nice to have something different.

I dont know if this has been talked about, is there a message of the day on the server? let them know about a vote coming if not enough people come here that play right?.....why not every month or so put up 2 vote topics one per each map, 1 for one map which would be
option 1, keep (blah blah)
option 2, vote out (blah blah)

people that pick option 2 could post what map they want to change it to, and tally it up and see which map wins (if majority voted out).

Thats what we did on my Wolfenstein ET server with our rotation, perhaps it could work here, and we still kept our server full 32 people. Even though people said they disliked certain maps they still stayed to play because of the great people/community because they knew it could be changed later on.
