    TS or Vent

OK, let's just say I was going to lease a 35 slot VoIP server, which would you prefer, TeamSpeak or Ventrilo and why?

I was just thinking about it and don't really know if I'm going to do it yet, but I was curious what type server everyone likes.

    I like Vent better.

From what I could gather, the word is TS beats V hands down. So say other players. Personally I've only used V, so I cant compare.

I had more problems with game compatibility, with TS than Vent. But, I haven't used TS in a long time.

I have more experience with Vent as well, and I haven't had any problems with it.

lol i was thinking about buying a vent server as well because of last night. Last night i was trying to communicate with my squad, all i got was stupid gibberish which was annoying. We will need to also set up some admins for unwelcome, and rude players. Yes you can set up a password which should only be viewable by people that have registered, but also there are ways around it which could cause i nuisance.TS is nice but Vent has more compatibility, options, and its easier to use imo for first time users. Also I believe its easier on your Ping as well and its more Lightweight....TS is just more shiny imho

here is a link for more info scroll down to see pros, and cons of each... http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/23...stics-opinions

the slots for vent purchase are 10, 15, 25, 50, 100, 150. if we have multiple games....should we get more slots of keep it at 50....because im willing to pay for it, i got extra money and im sure i know how to manage it.

I cant get one with 50 slots for $59.86 every 6 months.. and again have no problem paying for it

I've used both, but Vent seems to be an easier to set up platform.

I wouldn't advise renting a server for this game at this point in its life cycle. It probably won't last 6 more months with the core set of players.

well even if the game goes away what about the new games that we will most likely adopt like CoD Blk ops......or other FPS titles.....im saying the 50 slot vent server should be enough to house multiple games once a "game transition" takes place then it would be used for the most played game.

well if enough votes get put towards the vent server....I set it up tonight if anyone doesnt mind me doing it, i got the money set up and things to get it going as well as me being familiar on keeping it nice and simple for new users...with tutorials that i can type up for all the problems ive had trying to get voice activation to work, why isnt my mic working....how to turn peoples voices down. Individually and all together. Ill be home around 12:00am EST so we could have it up by tomorrow morning as well as me passing out all rights/admin uses to people that are the game admins here.

The vote must come to at least 12 votes...3 squads is good to get on vent and be able to hear people talk for once....but if upwards or more that would be great....also...If this happens anyway to edit the Cains Lair banner in the beginning to say Visit cainslair.com for more information on how to access our Ventrilo Server

Well Ok all. The server is setup with BranZone.com and the information is below.

I setup two areas (Attacker and Defender) with Alpha thru Foxtrot channels, with each channel having a limit of 4 so the people you are actually in a squad with game can be in your channel.

Remember all, in the Spirit of Cain's Lair keep it clean, don't spam others and just have a good time! Enjoy!

Also, before I forget, it should go without saying, BUT please use the server for Cain's BF BC2 server.
The vent server is a 35 slot server and will support a full BFBC2 server with 3 extra slots.
The main thing I wanted was enough slots for everyone in the BC2 server to be able to connect.
