          Oh no!

I thought in 4-6 more months I'd be able to match your kills score.

          Oh well.

ECN never heard about it before now. At least I learned something network related from your problems? Kinda a weird thing for MS to have this enabled by default?

                  So it wasn't EA's fault?

Nope ECN is enhanced congestion controls. Basically how end points of a TCP connection signal there is congestion is by dropping packets. ECN is a new standard that sets some bits in the TCP packet telling the other end that there is going to be congestion. The problem is some routers that don't support this and actually act badly when it's enabled. So it's not really MS's fault either.

So is Cobalt going to apologize to EA for all of the bad things he said about them, regarding this problem?

Ummm... no. Because they are too stupid to have someone figure it out. This came from outside anything they have done. Thats why they have the forum set up like it is. Lets people that know what they are doing fix stuff. Kinda like a beta shop for everyone. Everyone airs out their concerns, and others come along and tell them how to fix it. But this is a windows concern and it should be stickied where everyone who runs Vista or Win7 can see it. It has to do with tweaking net performance.

Actually you can't really blame Microsoft/EA for this at all. (Whoa this is weird I'm defending MS.) ECN is a fairly new protocol it's is inconceivable for EA/MS to test on every window platform(XP/VISTA/W7 and with every router conceivable both DSL, cable modem and normal routers found all across the internet made by hundreds of hardware vendors.

As I said it's not MS/EA's fault it the manufacturer of your modem who is at fault. Anyone who thinks you could test a piece of software for every type of network router out there is crazy.
