    A Message for Recon Snipers

On behalf of the soldiers on your team?
    STOP CAMPING

Seriously, stop it. Sniping is a legitimate tactic but BFBC2 seems to be overrun with dumbasses that would rather sit in the bushes and watch an M-COM station go up in flames. As with all things, sniping should be done in moderation.

The recon is a perfectly useful class, be a helpful teammate.

    This isn?t Modern Warfare 2!
There are no nukes, tactical insertions, killstreaks and lone wolf style playing! This game promotes working as a team and such a thing is the only way you?re going to win!

    Spot! Spot! Spot!
We all know what it is, believe it or not, those little orange triangles do help your team. If you?re playing a recon, use that high powered scope for more things than zooming in on an enemy and missing your first 10 shots. Mark that MFER and let your teammates help you kill him.

Take inventory of your team?s classes
Look at your team from time to time. Are there 3+ recons already? Play a different class if so.

Use your ghillie to your advantage
Enter the game as a recon, then pick up the weapon of fallen class on the ground. Attacking as a ?cloaked? soldier with the load out of an Assault class is considered a pro tactic.

    Cover your squad/team
This doesn?t mean playing a recon class every round, on every game, doing the same damn thing as all the other snipers. If your team manages to place a charge on the crate in rush, don?t continue to shoot at random enemies, move your ass and cover the crate to prevent it from being disabled. If you know the level well enough, you?ll still find a good hiding spot that has the objective in view. Don?t be a lone wolf, work with your team.

    Try moving closer
Staying away from the action can only do so much in the game and if you?re crap at getting headshots, you?ll be alot more useful being closer. Recons do not have to use bolt action sniper rifles, there are machine guns and shot guns available too. Mix & match and alter your strategy to win the match instead of trying to get points with ?awesome? headshots. The recons do have other tools up their arse to aid your team-mates.

    Use the sensor ball
This is probably the one item that recons rarely use and the item?s purpose is so useful to completing objectives. If you do decide to be much closer, throw the ball out in front of you or within the room you?re guarding. That tiny thing can pick up any enemies that dare to walk near you and with a quick counter-movement, blam, you got them before they knew what was coming.

Use your C4 when you gain an opportunity
Have you seen that CGI trailer for this game? The one where the recon blows the tank up? Well, you can be that awesome dude too if you take advantage of any opportunities where you can place your charge on the back (yes, the f-ing back) of the tank.

Be smart with the mortar strikes
Don?t use them to blast a single empty space in the hopes of killing a few enemies, use the strikes to destroy vehicles, destroy buildings and even bombard a charged crate to prevent the enemy from reaching it. Hell, even bombard an area where you know there are loads of snipers grouped up.

    Change classes when necessary
If you get killed by a tank and see that there are no other engineers in your squad, don?t be the recon again, be an engineer. You?ll gain extra points for destroying the vehicle, plus, you can change back to a recon afterwards.

Well yeah, but I dont see any bad snipers in this forum. All of them are loners who just stop by to chill.

OK tips though, basic common sense even.

I Love it when the other team is 90% sniper/recon.
They don't arm or disarm. (Majority)

Sure, my K/D will be miserable, but I'm usually negative anyway.

It irks me when they use the exploits, but it is what it is.

Keeping 1 squad from taking out the MCOM, and everyone else being Wookie's, makes it pretty easy as long as YOUR team isn't front loaded with 90% snipers as well.

When only 2-3 people on your team are NOT wookies, means you probably die alot if attacking. People start leaving then because of lack of support. Defending can survive with a zillion snipers usually.

I saw a Wookie run like heck to jump in the tank, jumped in and took off before i could get close to board as Engy.. Can said wookie repair the tank? OK, so they have now taken the armor asset, get it toasted after 2 hits, and your team is without armor support.

Yes but if you had the luck I had on a map the other day, two snipers in good hides, a little distance apart, behind enemy lines managed to shut down an outside route. This forced them to go another route right into the majority of the players fighting. No we were not spawn camping, just found two good spots to over watch the larger desert area on the linear map, not the L shaped one. We spotted, then blasted the daylights out them crossing. Funny thing though, I hit one, did not kill him, but he just stopped to look to see where the round came from, and I finished him off, he should have continued to run and he would have lived for a bit longer. But yes but a team of 75% snipers on the other side does hurt a lot. But did see one sniper C4 both buildings, blow the walls out which removed blocking structures both m coms. Then every swinging Medic sat all around and MG'd everyone who approached. I thought that was ingenious. The only other problem or comment I've got is the Snipers with the shotguns and slugs pop'n me from halfway across the map. Magnum ammo is also a pain the rear. I'm MG'ng the guy solid after I catch him by surprise, he turns around and MG's me, and I die to him. Oh, well, I"ll be up there someday if I survive the "new guy" learning curve.

But good points all about snipers, I do bounce around kits to try to get the unlocks and awards, so I don't fully play one kit all the time. And thanks to Cobalt, Dead and a few others, for teaching me stuff by watching you folks, and becoming your victim.

Ehh people will always punk out and go sniper with the way they are now. Everyone wants to sit back and get one hit kills...go 15/1 on a losing attack team The class needs to be nerfed or there needs to be a limit like tf2.

Until that point this game will continue to be mostly snipers.

I am speaking in a "for the quality of the game" type way. I tend to do well no matter what. I don't know about you, but getting an ace pin after my team gets destroyed doesn't make me feel better. I have quit many times leading a game in points because my team is all sniper and we are making no progress.

And yes snipers do need to be nerfed.

No way, I get free kills by killing snipers. Most of em are unaware of their suroundings that you can pluck them off one by one... Like the map ARICA HARBOR and seems like most attackers are sniping off that cliff to the right of them. They are not paying attention on what is going on *cough below *cough them . You just need to know how to get around them and attack them from behind. Cobalt knows, He wasnt sniping but During the map LAGUNA PRESA he said something in the ventro, he thought he saw something red in the back but it disapper

Cobalt and I have gone Assault/Medic and started a killing spree on all the grouped up oblivious snipers.

Yes, a great sniper, in right cubby, can dominate a round.
"Look at Phantom when he's in the mood"..

Area denial. On some maps, where you have to run a HUGE stretch of real estate before finding cover, a good sniper will keep ANYONE from advancing, Flanks, middle, or whatever..

On Attack squad though, too many snipers means total FAIL!!

Is it because we have some players that have no situational awareness, or are too young to give a flip about the "Team" concept? I.E. I'm going to play sniper because it is FUN and my K/D is Great.. Who cares if team loses..

So i guess the answer is limited scopes on a server. 3 each team with a full server would benifit the server greatly. I think admins just need to start enforcing it or kick. Maby have some of the members make binds of it and flash it every now and them to get the memo around.

Um.. if it was up to me. I'd nerf the class. I'm surprised someone somewhere hasnt done it in some server someplace. If you did. It would stay full 24/7 guaranteed. Think about it seriously. Being able to get around without worrying about getting blasted from downtown. And dont tell me thats the purpose. Like D & G said, they are basically useless on an attack squad.

And come to think of it not to good on some maps as defenders. Example Isla Inocentes. Second Mcom. We're out on the road trying to stop people from advancing and kill tanks. Somebody slips in from the beach side and sets the mcom at B. Well we got 4 - 5 snipers in the back without a clue how to play and they just sit there doing nothing. We have to stop our defense mode and go try and disarm the Mcom without a wookie in sight.

"Sigh" but basically it is what it is. You have so many variables as to why people play the way they play. Some dont have the experience. Some are selfish. Some are not too smart. And last but not least, some just dont care, or have any idea as to a team concept. Some are smart and do their jobs when needed. Defending Mcoms that are set, dropping mortars when needed. Killing the right people to make a difference. But most are just out for numbers and really dont contribute much. These are the ones that I want to knife in the ear when I run by with them headed the other way.

Oh, and one other item I wanted to add. And this goes for everyone. You cant win an objective based scenario like the one we have by giving up ground. Especially when the enemy can resupply and reinforce the way they do. How many times I see idiots trying to fight from the back of buildings without the mcom even in sight. Or as is the case in some with linear maps they head to the back of the map and let the enemy advance without any opposition whatsoever. Please learn how to fight. Get out front and kill somebody and quit giving up ground. Yea you might die a little more if you dont hide like a scared rabbit. But you can dang sure take some with you.

i see that my post has attracted quite a bit of attention lol.....this was supposed to be funny and sincere but i agree, force a % ratio to limit them but also agree that something needs to be done....yesterday night when i played with rossy and some others we were defending.....on that desert one where each side had 2 tanks and wow i didnt know i could sit on defense for almost a half hour and them still have 40 tickets left
