On behalf of the soldiers on your team?
STOP CAMPING
Seriously, stop it. Sniping is a legitimate tactic but BFBC2 seems to be overrun with dumbasses that would rather sit in the bushes and watch an M-COM station go up in flames. As with all things, sniping should be done in moderation.
The recon is a perfectly useful class, be a helpful teammate.
This isn?t Modern Warfare 2!
There are no nukes, tactical insertions, killstreaks and lone wolf style playing! This game promotes working as a team and such a thing is the only way you?re going to win!
Spot! Spot! Spot!
We all know what it is, believe it or not, those little orange triangles do help your team. If you?re playing a recon, use that high powered scope for more things than zooming in on an enemy and missing your first 10 shots. Mark that MFER and let your teammates help you kill him.
Take inventory of your team?s classes
Look at your team from time to time. Are there 3+ recons already? Play a different class if so.
Use your ghillie to your advantage
Enter the game as a recon, then pick up the weapon of fallen class on the ground. Attacking as a ?cloaked? soldier with the load out of an Assault class is considered a pro tactic.
Cover your squad/team
This doesn?t mean playing a recon class every round, on every game, doing the same damn thing as all the other snipers. If your team manages to place a charge on the crate in rush, don?t continue to shoot at random enemies, move your ass and cover the crate to prevent it from being disabled. If you know the level well enough, you?ll still find a good hiding spot that has the objective in view. Don?t be a lone wolf, work with your team.
Try moving closer
Staying away from the action can only do so much in the game and if you?re crap at getting headshots, you?ll be alot more useful being closer. Recons do not have to use bolt action sniper rifles, there are machine guns and shot guns available too. Mix & match and alter your strategy to win the match instead of trying to get points with ?awesome? headshots. The recons do have other tools up their arse to aid your team-mates.
Use the sensor ball
This is probably the one item that recons rarely use and the item?s purpose is so useful to completing objectives. If you do decide to be much closer, throw the ball out in front of you or within the room you?re guarding. That tiny thing can pick up any enemies that dare to walk near you and with a quick counter-movement, blam, you got them before they knew what was coming.
Use your C4 when you gain an opportunity
Have you seen that CGI trailer for this game? The one where the recon blows the tank up? Well, you can be that awesome dude too if you take advantage of any opportunities where you can place your charge on the back (yes, the f-ing back) of the tank.
Be smart with the mortar strikes
Don?t use them to blast a single empty space in the hopes of killing a few enemies, use the strikes to destroy vehicles, destroy buildings and even bombard a charged crate to prevent the enemy from reaching it. Hell, even bombard an area where you know there are loads of snipers grouped up.
Change classes when necessary
If you get killed by a tank and see that there are no other engineers in your squad, don?t be the recon again, be an engineer. You?ll gain extra points for destroying the vehicle, plus, you can change back to a recon afterwards.
