    Faulty RAM = MBR failsauce

so as it turns out my RAM somehow messed up my hard drive master boot record...and no i dont have pics...but anyway here it goes, the long story.

Me: Oh hai newegg can i plz haz 8GB of RAM instead of 4 nows?
Newegg: Sure "Billy" go ahead but that will be $148...
Me: Well ya get what ya pay for and I remember that you sent me and entire computer with the works and nothing came defective so meh ill trust ya again.
Newegg: Why thank you, oh and we will throw in 1TB harddrive for only $49.00
Me: Damn what a deal ill take it I need to start doing some video capturing on this sweet awesome BFBC2 server im always on
Newegg: Sounds great have fun "Billy"

    few days later
/install Hard Drive = good working order works great as can be
    /install 2 120MM fans = great and awesomesauce
/install 2x4GB of RAM on a properly executed anti static mat that I have.....
    seems awesome
boot computer and what happens......it keeps restarting itself....again and again and again.....omfg whats going on first instinct...the RAM, so i take it out and blow on it Nintendo Entertainment Cartridge style...as well as inside...put it back in....okay okay....gets to the windows is now loading screen....
and the worst thing that you could possibly see happens....
bootmgr is missing press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to reboot which means..

    "JESUS CHRIST SNIPER FIRE"

but in all seriousness, i cant believe that they would even think about sending faulty stuff to me...so what happens next for 2 days...trying to find a partitioner to reformat and install windows...well guess what....
i get "unable to format "BADMBR" partition error 105,110. Im like YAY! so the next 4 programs i find do jack squat...then all of a sudden something smacks me in the face. Oh yeah im a member of Demonoid so im like hmm looking and looking then i came across "EASEUS" disk partitioner and let me say its like tracing a chopper(its so easy). so after all this i finally got everything up to speed....except for a years worth of data which i completely lost because of something that i could do in 2 minutes if that...
So ill be back on hopefully tomorrow, Im gonna take tomorrow to install everything since its 2:35 am now but just letting you all know that im think about ya and miss you

Sorry for your problems. But, you can not blame Newegg. They are an end seller and would not have the capability to test every piece of electronics they sell. Blame the manufacturer for not catching it before it left the factory.

Also, I'm confused how faulty ram could cause your MBR to get nuked. I have never heard of that happening before...

EDIT: Not saying that wasn't what caused your problem, just I never heard of it.

I've seen it happen where a wild overclock and screwy RAM timings will hose your OS install, but as far as the MBR ... that's a new one.

I'm sure someone will remember the older 939 or 775 boards that needed RAM at 1.8v to boot, but wouldn't boot with higher end RAM that defaults to higher than 1.8v.

Yeah, I got some OCZ RAM like that on my system. I had to boot with one stick installed, boot to BIOS, set the voltage, power off, then add the other sticks. It was a pain in the ass.

Clearly the solution to your issues lies with the RAM. I will take it off your hands and spare you any more hairpulling episodes such as what you have already subjected yourself to.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
