    Killing tanks

Where is the best place to hit a tank to do the most damage?

    #2
online says rear and sides have less armor. i have a hell of a time taking them out , if i do not hit rear or sides, they just mow me down.

I have the best luck hitting them in the sides.

Where do you put the Bayonet?

Rear plate, rear turret, bottom, top, rear-side tread area, pretty much in that order.

Mortars are absurdly good at killing tanks. Or you can drop mines around and get little surprises 5-10 minutes later.

Most damage I've seen is hitting it in the rear, behind the turret, from above (on hill). Front and turret are least soft. Most damage in order I've seen: rear behind turret from above. Straight in the rear. Side rear. Side. Side front.

Sounds right to me from a practical standpoint... in a real war it would be ugly if the tanks were getting hit from behind with rocket launchers

Definitely the rear hull. Think: Engine Compartment. On a healthy tank it still takes two, sometimes three rockets to kill. Remember, fire and maneuver...the rocket smoke trail gives you away to the tank and to everyone else.

Your blowtorch does a ton of damage to an enemy tank. Try to hide in bushes at choke points in the road. When a tank rolls up, run out and zap it. Sometimes I'll drop a very obvious mine in front of where I'll hide, forcing the tank to stop to blow it up...while he's doing that I'm melting his armor with my blowtorch. If he doesn't see the mine, he rolls over it and dies. Either way, it's a +150 point minimum for me.

Related note, my favorite vehicle powerup for tanks is the reload buff. In a tank duel, he who puts the most rounds on target in the shortest time wins. OTOH, the damage buff (hardened warheads) is favored by some. Flamethrower sounds cool but it's really not that great in practice, with it's short range.

And always remember to turn your tank to face incoming fire. I get irritated when I see a tank driver present his tank's ass towards rocket fire. NO! Turn and let them shoot at your front armor. And don't drive away when you have an engy trying to fix you!

Another related note: If you're an engy and are repairing a friendly tank, do not hide behind or in front of the tank while fixing it: keep to the sides if at all possible. No tank driver likes to smush a helpful teammate for -100. If you're driving, maneuver your tank as best you can to shield your teammate from enemy fire, while still presenting your front or side to the enemy.

Same idea as my (second) favorite menuver i drop a mine behind it then run near the front with a blowtorch and watch them back over the mine.

Also good old tnt/c4 only takes 2 of em no matter where u stick em, although sometimes they dont stick for some reason

Excellent points. I've said similar things to engies who got mad after I back over them trying to avoid incoming tank rounds. You can't just sit and take it and expect to live.

Yea, only problem with repairing on sides is you get taken out easily if there is a tank battle or enemy soldiers / snipers. Rear corner for me, always ready to run like heck! If you repair in the rear and get squished it comes with the territory. Tanker can afford a few points anyways!
I'm here to kill friends. Do you want to be my friend?

Can someone find some photos of tanks and the best places to hit them perhaps!?

I just shoot at whatever angle I am at. I don't do much maneuvering. I shoot as soon as I can get a shot.

But yes, sides and rear are the way to go. I am assuming this would translate to vietnam:
