Just got BC2

i liked BC2 vanilla. Panama Canal is my favorite map. Getting the unlocks comes very quickly.
I got vietnam because of all the hype on here. I did not like it at first, compared to vanilla, it seemed dark. The new skins also through me off. After a few maps though, I like it a lot. Shooters are shooters to me, so i cant say which i like more, but if cain's is running a server, it helps sway me into which version ill play.

My only real complaint about vietnam is the map dumps. I get booted, mostly on "hill 137" .

If you don't like BFBC2, then you sure as hell won't like Vietnam. The maps are incredibly unbalanced.

I hated BC2 but love Vietnam...

+1 to Cain's sentiment. I stopped playing BC2 almost literally the moment I got the last award, and am enjoying Vietnam a lot more than BC2. I don't really LOVE Vietnam, but it's good for some laughs and fun.

And the good thing if you like both, by playing Nam you can unlock items for Vanilla by ranking up

I disagree. The only maps that I think are unbalanced are the ones with one flag on each end and one in the middle. Each of these is slightly unbalanced towards one team. However, even these wouldn't be considered incredibly unbalanced IMO, as a good team can overcome the unbalance. Hill 137 is probably the most unbalanced.

The other maps we play all have a balanced layout IMO.

And even if a map does seem a bit imbalanced (I really don't notice any unless I'm on a team that doesn't go for objectives), each map is run twice: you get to play on each side. So if there is truly an imbalance, reason would have it that in the second round one could deal out the same abuse the winning side did on the first round, which would thereby make things...uhm...balanced, correct?

I do not think the maps are unbalanced. I find the the team with better team work and aggressiveness wins the map 99% of the time.

My join times are problematical. Sometimes its 30 seconds, sometimes its 5 minutes, and the teams have already taken 2 flags, or more.

But that's probably because of my Wanky ATI driver.

Since I push alot, me not being there on the initial drive hurts my team.

so all but operation hastings is unbalanced? I agree. 4/5 not very good ratio of balanced maps. I thought they did a very poor job on maps in Vietnam.

the key to the three point maps is holding point B. You can win a map even if the other teams have A&C. Also, on all these maps being "unbalanced" i find its a bunch of gapers running around with sniper rifles whining about how they are getting owned. Meanwhile, they other team has assualt and eng's and medics running all over the place capping flags.

Just on game mechanics alone right there, you lose. Now lets start weighing in some skills....

The map "problem" is that only two maps were designed for Conquest - Phu Bai and Hastings -- both GREAT maps BTW.

The other maps are Rush maps, Vantage, Hill137 and Cao Son and designed to be played from one end to the other.

I have considered running only the two Conquest maps, Phu Bai and Hastings, but then many of you folks will start screaming for "MORE MAPS!!!"....

I still may drop us back to only the two Cq maps, at least for a day or so to see how it goes.
