    I give up

i just can not connect to the lair anymore. ive restarted my machine and router, and modem blah blah. but no matter what, i can not connect to the server.
joining basically just results in it timing out and then saying ive lost connection to the server. Its always pinging 999. id say this was just on my end, but the fact the server seems to crash 2-3 times a day, and riddled with problems afterward, no, it cant be.

someone was talking about how the server provider gives good customer support, maybe one needs to call them and ask WTF. this just aint right.

Have you ran a trace to the server? There could be issue with one of the hops along the way.

No need to get your panties in a bunch, try running a traceroute with this program to see where the connection is slowing down.

I am not kidding I had the exact same issue last year...
step 1. run in admin mode.. if it doesn't work
step 2 reinstall the game download EA have made it so patch is much smaller for new users (even though you aren't ) if not again
step 3 weird but this worked for me
        turn PC off ,
        disconnect from power,
remove graphics card from (maybe pci e slot? )
        replace
        restart...
plus update PunkBuster and ensure your running in admin mode (give it a go?)
        sigpic

        The sentence below is true.

Hmm. First, can you connect to other EA servers. If you can then it may be that your router took an exception to the Lair IP address. If you're pretty handy you can go in and reconfigure your router for to allow the Lair credentials. IP, Port. etc.

I know it's a dumb question but is your firewall interfering at all. I figure you tried with it on and off. But thought I'd ask. Can you play other games. Or just not at the Lair. Do you think you changed any configs that would hinder it from connecting.

Run the Tracert command from a dos prompt. c:/ tracert "ip at the lair" without the quotes and a space between the ip and the tracert command.

I'd definitely try ping plotter. During the UT days I had an issue and it turned out to be a bad hop.

Infamous there are one of three problems:

                  1) Something wrong with your connection, PC, game install, punkbuster, network drivers, video drivers, chipset drivers or audio drivers. Make certain you are running the very latest of all these drivers. I was getting booted out frequently and had to slow down my memory timings, and also stop overclocking my CPU.

                  2) Something between you and the server causing you to lose packets, so you are not properly recognized by the server.

                  3) Something wrong with the server itself that will not allow you to connect.

Odds are most likely it is number 1 above. Folks have tried making some suggestions.

Once you have exhausted Number 1 above, the next step is top run a detailed traceroute to show the status of every single router between you and the server.

Option 3 is unlikely because we would not have had almost 6,000 individual players connect and play since we moved the server to WDC. Remember we are more aggressive about blocking cheaters than the average server, so you need to be certain you have all the latest, standard drivers, and no weird add-ons or plugins to the game itself.

Considering the problems you had when we were running Vietnam in Dallas, Option 1 is the most likely issue here.

If I had to guess I'd say it it an issue with your video drivers or your audio drivers.

If you can give us as much detail as possible about when and how you get disconnected that will help us help you.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
