the feedback I got all day was overwhelmingly positive, from regulars and new players.

I met a lot of new folks playing here for the first time, so that was good.

Folks liked the modified vanilla with no killcam, and no mini-map or HUD.

I left the 3D spotting in and that was very helpful.

Folks are harder to kill if you do not aim at their upper torso and head, you can no longer shoot them in the foot and kill them quickly.

I know many of our regulars LOVED it, and it was certainly much more like old BF2.



Oh, and the snipers were the only ones complaining, and they were definitely neutralized if they wanted to sit in one spot all game and snipe.

The only complaint I found myself having, was the larger maps were much harder because of the damage/spread on the weapons. But, as mentioned, I am most likely just going to have to change my tactics for those particular maps.

I found that sniping was still effective as well - even with the SVU - I just had to tag my target a time or two more... Which they still had to do with me as well.

When players ask "Is this server HC" you respond "It is a Ranked, modified server"...

I disabled:
minimap
crosshairs
minimap spotting
3rd person vehicle view
Kill-cam
mini-map spotting

I left 3d spotting...

So its hard core with twice the health and 3d spotting, got it. I thought it get up and running but Rossy and his friend had to bail, mini will be playing and I'll be AFK for a bit.

Only 3D spotting is enabled, and folks love it. They are spotting everything in there now.

No mini-map and no mini-map spotting.

HC cuts your health in half, the weapons are not more powerful, you simply have 1/2 the health.

The mini-map and the kill-cam are what many folks dislike about core mode, and most enjoy NOT having it.

Actually now that I have played it, I don't see any big problems. The issue that pushed it for me is health regeneration. It's a pain in HC to find a medic who is ALWAYS miles away sitting under a tree.

Rofl! One of the things I dislike about "Core"/"Vanilla"/"Whatever you wanna call it" is that medics seem slightly useless now (atleast, the med packs) because people don't rely on them for health. :P

Again, it's not a big bother though. I just find it funny

I hope you jokers realize that spotting is akin to having an esp hack. Where you can see everyone on the map. Not much difference. That and all these people keep talkin about shooting someone in the head. Must be some real Annie Oakleys in here cause unless they are sittin still or running away or straight at you I aint buyin it.

Which puts you back to runnin out of ammo if you aint an assault class, cause most of your squad is off doing something else when you need ammo. Not saying that they wont bring you some, cause we have some good guys in here. But it is what it is when you have to empty half a mag to take a guy out. Kinda frustrating to me when you peg someone with a good shot and they just keep humpin it.

I shoot the M16 because of the 3 round burst. Caught a guy campin last night and had to put 4 bursts into him before he crumpled. Do the math. You either modify your tactics, and work more close range and hope you just get lucky and outgun the guy,or forget shootin some guy runnin 200 yards away. HC you could kill those guys. Not so much anymore. And I dont care who says what, you aint shootin some guy 200 yards away in the head when he's moving.

You guys talked about having fun. Not sure if I agree that this is fun or not. I didnt really enjoy the gameplay last night. But I did enjoy being with friends. But I dont know why it has to be one or the other, and not both. I'm still deciding what I want to do .

I'm okay with ESP in games.

To keep things fun, game designers made these weapons "balanced". That's why the Abrams is a high-grade grenade lobber, and that's why we have RPG tag dart pistols.

I need 3D spotting to show enemy that I have spotted. I'd rather physically point at them, and shout "suppress target, 150 meters", but that's difficult with a keyboard. I think 3D spotting should only show where the enemy was initially spotted, not where he's moving. But those designer guys didn't ask me.

I agree, people resort to the 870 and revolver just to put someone down, from 100yards away. I always check CLR first, if the numbers are low I always come in the help get it going but after that I'll go find an HC server. Usually follow a CLR guy on my friends list to one. Sorry guys

Folks who are loving the modified server are constantly telling me in TS and in game, but those folks are not coming here.

As usual the folks who dislike something speak up, and that is normal in everything.

Either we have HC and we completely stop the whining about the snipers, or we play modified where the snipers are balanced out and do not dominate the game.

This gameplay is very, very similar to BF2 and the way we will be playing in BF3. In BF2 you did not shoot a guy in the ankle and he dropped dead.

We are going to run this a while and see how it does for us.

If most of you want it back on HC we will do that, but I don't want to hear a peep about the overpowered snipers in HC.
