    TS3 Squads

As we continue our preparation for BF3 and a 64 player server, I will soon lower the ts player threshold to break the channels into squads...

Personally I much prefer talking to my squad, like we did in BF2 and 2142.

As the server segregates now when there are 5 people in the lobby, I would think that the squad separation should happen maybe once 6-8 people are in the channel on one team. Or at least enough to fill a pair of squads, as it can be quite lonely when there are just enough people for a squad and you end up playing with some pubbers.

While it is nice to be able to coordinate with two separate squads, it can be a bit much when they are trying to coordinate within themselves.

I can see some people being bugged by this, as they are more sociable. The best I can suggest to that is just squad of with people that are like-minded.

Maybe each team should have a channel that would not segregate the players, and those that just want to BS can go to them?

Tbh i prefer team chatter, inter squad comms is great when working behind another squad.

Mind you i come from the bg of a team working together rather than squads doing different things.
This is where off server comms has its fault, i guess.
Back in the day when it was team voip thing where more everyone rather than 4-5 ppl
You knew what others where up too.
I still like that, knowing what the other guys on my team are doing so i can assist or defer else where

I'm not insane. I'm just overwhelming!

BF2 and 2142 did not have team channels.... Games like CS or DOD had no squads, or squad dynamics or features, thus no squad channels.

I am not a fan of listening to a guy in another squad's constant chatter.... he does me little good and just becomes annoying.

I loved BF2 and 2142's Coms so we are headed in that direction... pretty quickly.

If you like talking to a guy, squad up, the plugin will switch you automatically.

                  ROFL...

Brian, the same thing that happened in BF2 or 2142, you wait for someone to join your squad so you can talk to them...

I'm liking Schultzy's comments... (Don't tell him I said that tho)

Maybe not break into squads when there are only 10, where each side = 4 +1, but perhaps 12 = 4+2 squads....

I think the threshold should be 6. I think for BF3 this is good, but not for the 32 player server. I'm one of those tactical people that likes to give enemy player movement so I do like the whole team to hear.

I do 100% agree about annoying chatter from another squad though. So in short, I'm cool with either way for the 32 player server and agree that for the 64 player server it will be a must.

How many people are allowed to be in squads in BF3?

maybe we can have a lone wolf squad for all those not in a squad.

I enjoy all three chat types (all talk, team-based, and squad-based). Sometimes it is fun to be able to talk crap to the guys on the other team, especially if there aren't many people in the game. Tactically, squad-based is best as long as you have a good squad that communicates. In BF2, if you had a good squad that talked to each other you could dominate. It sux to be in a squad with a bunch of mopes that don't talk, though. In that case I would rather be in a team-based chat so I can coordinate with other peeps who aren't in my squad.
